For me a pmp is a high quality video and music play. This P2 is some sorta multimedia device. It has DMB, GPS functionality and dual boot OS. For me athing that makes up a PMP mostly is the battery life and video quality. My choice is with my A2. THe battery life is the best (so far) on a pmp and the Viliv P2's battery life is not good in my book. They might as well have put on a full qwerty keyboard to make it into one of those UMPC things. Nah not my style.

P.S Seems pricey as well.

I was interested in the P2 a while back, when it was smaller then the A2... but now it seems that the player isn't in fact very portable, (by my standards).

it looks more like a tablet pc then a pmp
it has an AMD 500MHZ prossesor 128mb of ddr2 memory dual OS
i think you better consider it as a computer rather than a pmp

Yeah, and it probably is gonna be like $700. An A2 can be had for half the price. You really can't beat a 20GB A2 for price to feature ratio.

Well, I've been looking at the P2 for a while. DAP review has the 30gb non dmb/gps version as 443k korean won, or about 470US dollars. That'll probably go up as time goes on though. The battery life is rated at 4-7 video and 7-10 audio, but theres going to be an extra battery addon.

The p2 is touch screen and has windows ce (pda like) so it could be a competitor for the iStation V43 (now the T43 because of the recall). They'll probably end up coming out at the same time in the US too, which won't be for a long time, and I wouldn't doubt that their will be more things out there by then.

In anycase, I'll stick with my a2 for now as it does everything I need it to do...Although 30gbs isn't enough to hold everything I've got.

Ask any one with a PDA and touch screens. Most that use them a lot. Go for a keyboard after a while. Much easer. Also on some units the current resistor based tech of position can have problems as time goes along.

Same here! The A2 is a well balance unit for what it does.

Wow, really look like a A2-clone to me, or maybe that's the kind of design is the standard for PMP nowadays... Quite impressive though, but there still need to have some reviews on it first, obviously the feature doesn't determine the performance.

There are some negative responses, but I think the VIlIV P2 will be a great competitor for the A2. Similar size, similar capabilities (and more!). The fact that it is supporting Win/Lin means developers have really possibilities to create software for it (e.g. support for additional codecs). Although the cowonA2 source is available, no-one is really able to do something useful with it.

I got an A2 myself, and am delighted with it, best investment since years. But the P2 makes me wonder....

Wouter.

does the viliv have a removeable battery? though it may be a bit pricy, buyin a couple extra batteries would make it run longer than the a2; and i know, i'll get replies about how much money that would cost and whatnot, but on long trips on planes and such where u might not always have a charging place, extra batteries are a must!
