Default Rockbox On Craddle

Hi,

Anybody tried to run their X5 from the craddle (or the subpack), i.e. with a/c with Rockbox? I tried but did not get anywhere...

Cheers.

Yeah, it wrks fine.
I only use rockbox when it's on AC.
I'm under the impresion that I'm not ruining my battery by doing it this way... Am I right? Anybody?

Default USB connected?

Maybe you have also a USB cable connected to the adapter so it doesn't work?

thx JRWaite, really enjoyed my holydays with my rockboxed x5!
saw that things were going on really cool, especially the build with recording and many other tweaked patches is really nice and of course the "black glass" theme.
but what i'm missing is the rockbox 3.0. is there another new release date or is it "open end?"

Boeselhack, yes the rockbox 30 is still in freeze with not date of release, from what I have seen they want a clean release.. So for now we will wait, but thanks to some of the members here patchs have been added to builds. I love the build that has both margins and color wps support. And you are correct the black glass theme work done by MrMec is super... Cant wait for your next wps themes which are always great.

I just got my cradle, it's connected with AC adapter and line out. I don't know if it's because the charging light is on, but I can't get the unit to boot into Rockbox (short power on), it is either off or 'charging'.

Isn't this a little risky? I don't think the power handling has been sorted in Rockbox yet, so I wouldn't advise using ac power while using Rockbox. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

when i was home for christmas away from my normal computer I used it as my music player while plugged in with no problem. the normal battery graphic shows a little lightning bolt over it instead of the bar (using the clix theme)

RB UI handles charging (i.e., shows a little lightning bolt) but charging control is not implemented for X5 yet.
I advise against using RB'd X5 running on AC/USB power.

Charging on the X5 is hardware controlled, not software. The battery cannot be overcharged or harmed. At the worst, Rockbox could disable or set charging to occur at a slower speed (I'm not sure the full function of the hardware) but neither of those provide danger to the battery.
