Default cant get to main menu

okay, it worked before, but for some reason now when i press/hold the joystick for 2 seconds, it doesn't go to the main menu to switch modes or go into Settings. i've tried holding it for several seconds, but nothing happens.

anyone have a clue why this wont work?

thanks.

If all else fails, try resetting it.

i guess i'll have to try that, since i dont know of any other options.....

the reset is just sort of like re-booting a PC. it wont remove any of the music i've put on the player, right?

Sounds like you may need to RMA. I've never heard of this happening before.

should i email them first?

would a firmware upgrade help? shouldn't need to do that.

like i said, it worked when i first got it the other day. i haven't tried it in a few days, was just enjoying listening. now today when i press/hold the joystick nothing happens.

It sounds like a hardware issue, so firmware upgrade won't help (although you can try it, of course).
You can try to e-mail them first, but I read that Cowon usually doesn't reply very quick, so a phone call might be better.

well, i submitted a ticket with tech support on their site. they recommended re-loading the firmware and seeing if that helps.

great, now i have to wade thru the 237,000 posts in the Firmware forum to figure out how the hell to do that.....

Click here to download 2.10E final. Unzip, then follow the instructions here. There are even images for you

I don't have an x5 personally, but hopefully the firmware upgrade should work. Good luck.

Hmm thats strange (the links work for me)...just go to http://eng.iaudio.com , click download, f/w s/w and select the x5 2.10 firmware and there should be a download link and instructions.

Please describe where in the navigation screen you are when you press and HOLD the joystick to go to main menu. You are supposed to be at the "now playing sort of screen". You can't go to the main menu while browsing folders.
