I have just bought myself an M3L after an exhaustive search of HDD MP3 players. The reasons I chose the M3L:
- I don't use Windows. While it is possible to transfer files to iPod and Creative players under GNU/Linux it isn't out-of-the-box. The M3/M3L is - I just plug it in and go. My configuration automatically syncs my music archive and playlists as soon as I attach the M3 - Battery life. Well duh ;) - Sound quality. I swear this thing sounds better than any other MP3 player I've listened to - and that's with the stock Cresyn earbuds. Things I'm interested in doing: - CD Changer emulation. I want to use my M3L in the car. It would be extremely cool if I could scan/skip tracks, pause and play using the car head unit buttons. Has anybody worked out the remote pinout and protocol yet? Should be relatively simple to build a small PIC based interface if someone has already done this. Anyway, hello all. Lovely to meet you. |

Hi,
Welcom on the forum, I hope you like it around here! You say: "my configuration automatically syncs my music archive and playlists as I attach the M3". How did you do this??? Do you know if this is also possible with a simple Windows XP lap top? Would be nice! Your ideas for the car are also great. However, as being a non-technical woman I'm afraid I can't help you. For me it is very advanced alrealy to use the M3 player within my car with an ordinary FM-transmitter... Bye!

The sychronisation is performed using some simple *nix shell scripting (which is like a Windows batch script only more powerful) and a utility named sync. This is traditionally a Unix tool but you may be able to find a Windows version. Alternatively there is a utility named Unison which has both *nix and Windows versions.

hmm hey man! Glad ur liking your M3L
its a really awesome 'machine' if i say so myself! Haha mine's been thru a beating , i mean, i take it snowboarding and its still playing great haha doesnt skip a beat! Btw, i like your idea of being able to emulate it with the car stereo or w/e. I was also thinking about that, it would be a hassle to have to change songs with the remote while driving. However i think it might take someone really good at this stuff to figure that out! If you find someone li ke that please inform me! :p
