ogg mp3 and flac are working fine for me...
wma returns `no file` error... except audio files: no videos work for me (and they are not supposed to work at this stage of development) and I threw some jpegs at rockbox and no probs there (only thing is that it starts out a bit too zoomed out... means a veeery big black frame to beginb with... but zooming is veeery quick...) |

And I was pretty friendly. I even gave him the link to the specific page with the answer to his question. Nothing is specific to the X5 in terms of audio codec support. Audio codec support is pretty much the same for the newer rockbox'd players(i.e. not the old archos players). Last edited by afruff23; 04-17-2006 at 18:54.. |

You just cleaned it up. I checked before posting. Thank you for finally doing that.

If you still can't find otu what formats are supported, then here you go:
MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Musepack, FLAC, AAC, ALAC, AC3 and WavPack. There is also a beta patch to play WMA(non-DRM). Last edited by afruff23; 04-17-2006 at 19:27.. |

For those who need proof.
![]() * Green is the Cowon firmware frequency response * White is the Rockbox frequency response The audio playback code does have a few bug's but they are minor and do not affect sound quality.' http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...eCodecPlayback |

I would be very interested to hear somebody's impressions of playing music encoded with the new Nero AAC encoder; easiest transcoder to use is MediaCoder ver 0.3.9+ : http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/changelogfullpack.htm
Discussion about Nero's offering is at: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=44275 Theoretically, battery drawdown should be more favorable than for Ogg Vorbis and quality should be nearly as high -- but definitely better than iTunes-encoded. That's talking about low-complexity AAC (LC-AAC), but high-efficiency AAC can produce incredible quality at 48 kbps and is, at least for cellies and PDAs, ultra-friendly to batteries. I see no claims of HE-AAC v2 files having been properly decoded on any Rockbox. |

When is rockbox for the iAudio going to give us Bass & Treble options though?
One thing I love about the original Firmware is the bass you get of it (even with the earphones it came with) with any distortion. I can't say the same thing for Rockbox, though I'm not the most technuically versed when it comes to equalisers. Can anyone give some good advise for turning up the bass? or should we wait for Rckbox to implement this fully? |

Well what I actually referring to was an option entitled Bass and Treble that should be underneath Volume on the Sound Setting menu. Maybe that'll give us some cool leverage forcoming close to matching M3B
