Default new X5L on the way

so my X5L will be here any day. i plan to mess around with it and get used to it as is..... but should i update it with the current Cowon firmware right away, or not necessarily?

in a (possibly) related matter, will the latest firmware address issues related to alphabetical file playing and ID tags? please see my other thread for questions on this. thanks!

(i'm gonna wait a while before doing rockbox)

Updating to the current firmware (2.10) is OK. This firmware does not contain the ID3 database that so many want, but video resume is a nice enough feature to upgrade for. I'm not sure what you mean about "alphabetical file playing" - the X5 works fine and will play your tracks in order if you have them named correctly. From your other thread it looks like you've organized your tracks already, so you should be good to go.

yea, i think i'm set on that tip. i was worried that some of my folders not named consistently wouldn't play in proper track order. going thru some of my stuff i realize most of it is in better shape than i thought.

thanks

There's an English version of the 2.10 firmware now at http://eng.iaudio.com/download/file/..._fw(2.10E).zip. You can already download it and upgrade it immediately after you've charged your X5.

thanks.

again, still not clear, is it recommended that i upgrade the firmward immediately? or not necessarily?

my good buddy frank mulder once told me to "walk first, then run," and i certainly plan to play around and get used to the X5 before worrying about firmware, but i'm wondering if there's certain "bugs" that current firmware fixed and if i should do that right away so i have no probs.

if it's just for video resume, i wont need that yet.

yeah, i'd go ahead and upgrade to the latest final firmware frankmulder posted. takes less than a minute to do. i used to get bugs and freeze ups when i first got my X5, but now its been about 5 months at least since i've had to reset it or something like that. so upgrade the firmware and you shouldn't get any problems.

Well, I can tell you what I did: I played with my player for one week using the 2.07-e firmware, and then the 2.10-k firmware came out, and I installed it. Today I installed 2.10-e.

So if you want, you can wait with it, so that you can actually see some differences (like video resume). But don't wait too long. :winker:
