Installation Guide:
* Download the bootloader binary on the bottom of this page * Copy it to the FIRMWARE directory on your X5 * Turn the X5 off and insert the charger. The X5 will automatically upgrade the flash with the Rockbox bootloader * Proceed with installing the X5 version of Rockbox from the daily build page. Restoring the original firmware * Download the original X5 firmware from the iAudio web site. * Copy it to the FIRMWARE directory on your X5 * Turn the X5 off and insert the charger. The X5 will automatically upgrade the flash with the original firmware Current version Bootloader 2 Internal changes only. X5V support. Bootloader 1 Boots Rockbox but can't yet boot the original firmware NOTE: For full installation don't forget to download CVS build (daily or bleeding edge build) and unzip Rockbox files on the roots of your player (the zip contain one rockbox directory and one rockbox.iaudio file)

Sound improvement confirmed
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=3228.15 there was a treble rolloff that was corrected in the latest build. In the words of Llorean "So, at this point if audio doesn't sound right, it's more likely placebo effect than anything else. Notice, *more* not necessarily guaranteed." I'm not sure what this does to the mp3 decoder, but still this is important. |

The MP3 encoder update means that the mp3's encode faster and better. Also the MP3 enocder has been updated to lame 3.97 which is supposed to be the best MP3 encoder. BTW the code freeze is now on so there will not be any new feature's only bugfix's.

Add button mappings and support for iAudio X5, also simplified a bit of code. This is a commit message for a change done to the clock plugin. (thanks bagder)

The message would be more appropriate written:
Support added to the clock plugin for the iAudio X5. Since right now for each plugin the button have to be defined seperatly for each port. That is supposed to change in version 3.1. |

moved the LCD framebuffer to IRAM for iAudio X5 - gives ~40% speed boost I also extended the iram size properly since the 5250 coldfire has 128K.
The lcd is now 101 FPS Last edited by keytotime; 04-11-2006 at 06:15.. |

Faster I2C clock for the Audio chip. It allow's data to be sent faster to the Audio chip. Might improve audio playback.

This is a bit old, but libmad has been optimized. Libmad is used to decode mpeg audio(aka MP3).

Move the battery min/max capacity to player config files and add an increment setting (amount of mAh to increase/decrease by in the settings menu) for more precise battery value tweaking/limiting per-model. This allows the proper range for iAudio X5 - 950mAh, or 2250mAh for the X5L.
