So, all you people that love your little Cowon players are all pissy about the new Zen Vision:M...Ill agree that the X5 is an excellent player, and i have one myself, but why cant everyone just accept that the Zen Vision:M is infact better. Theres no shame in admiting that. Its almost 2 years younger than the x5. Also, stop calling it a video ipod rip off. Apple keeps everything it produces under wraps. It wouldof been nearly impossible for Creative to steal designs for an Apple ipod before it came out. And Creative cant pull anything like the ZVM out of their ass in a few days. It had been under production for quite awhile, and has had alot of thought put into it. Also, unlike on the x5 the screen is actually watchable. I can actually watch my pirated movies and ENJOY them. On a better screen the the ipod. Plus, creative sound is almost as good as cowon's, if not better. I mean creative is the biggest producer of computer sound cards in the WORLD. If your computer makes sound, chances are, its thanks to creative. And about the ZVM's design, the ipod already had a winning design, they just took hints from it. And lets not forget that the navigation on the ipod is stolen from creative and creative has the rights to the ipod navigaiton system. So, the software has been creative's for a long time. So, keep your hopes up, im possitive the X6 will blow both players out of the water. Until then, I love my ZVM, and I wish everyone would shut the hell up.

Zen Vision M? You mean the one that doesn't have OGG/FLAC support, no USB OTG, no 60 gb capacity? Where's my voice recording, and does this thing even do drag and drop?
The few movies that I watch on my X5 appears fine; I didn't get a player so I can be bedazzled by the screen like some ADD-addled kid. As for Creative being the McDonald's of sound cards...hey, whatever makes you feel better about your brand. Not that I'm a huge fan of the iPod, but the Creative's barely any less lacking. Both are just trading useful features for some rather falsely-perceived aesthetics and convenience. If you're into that kind of thing, go you. Quite a few of us have something more useful, and it happens to be small, black, and has the letters 'iAudio' embossed on it. |

Go back to a Creative Fanboy site.

OK, here is the deal: This is an iAudio fansite. It is made for people who like iAudio players. I am totally fine with people who will give fair, unbiased comparisons between players, but you didn't put this in the X5 comparison page. You instead put it in the normal X5 subforum. That tells me that all that you are trying to do is get people to buy Creative players. While the Vision: M does have its strong points, all that you are trying to do is make it sound like it is the Mother-of-all-DAPs. If you like the Vision: M so much, then good for you. I just don't think that you should put this into the X5's forum, talking about the Creative Zen Vision: M.

Before this thread I hadn't even noticed any threads knocking the Zen Vision:M... but then again I dont look at the comparisions page and I could also be blind.
p.s. You're asking to be flamed making a post like this on a website called iaudiophile.net. |

Try your politics on some Creative forum. I'm sure they'll clap and won't give you shit like we iAudio owners do out here. :moonu:

I was a Creative guy. I had Creative DAPs for 4 years, and loved everything about 'em.
When it came time to upgrade a few months ago, I tried pretty hard to get a Zen Touch. Local retailers either didn't carry them or were out of stock, so I ordered one from NewEgg. It shows up, I loaded it up with music, and sat back to enjoy. What's that noise? Oh, it's the hard drive clicking. ("DAMMIT!") I went through the RMA dance and got my replacement from NewEgg about 10 days later. Just out of curiosity, I started the player and listened to the default classical music list. Skipped ahead a few times, the player was at arm's reach, I was wearing headphones playing music at a decent volume, and I could STILL HEAR THE GODDAMN HARD DRIVE CLICKING. Now why, do you ask, would I not buy a Zen Vision M? Let me see if I can think of some reasons... 1) iAudio raised the bar on battery life. If you're not offering me *at least* 20 hours of playback, I'm not interested. 4 hours of video does me no good on a long flight. I don't wanna spend the last few hours of a cross-country flight with my dead DAP mocking me. 2) Don't talk to me about amazing video on a 2.5-inch screen. If you're trying to sell me on a PVP, you'll have to do better than 2.5 inches. I get that it's bigger and offers higher resolution than the X5L, but I still prefer the X5L's setup and 10 hours of playback. And let's not kid ourselves, okay? The Vision M and X5L are NOT for watching movies with any sort of satisfying clarity. I stick to sitcoms and TVDVD rips, where the demand for video acuity isn't as high. 3) Still doesn't match iAudio's native sound or sound options. OGG and FLAC? Nope. Sound-wise, the audio doesn't even compare to the X5. 4) What's with the external HDD capability? It's a "feature" you have to activate and is capped at 16GB (on the 30GB model I saw). No thanks. With the X5, I can plug in anywhere and drag-n-drop to the drive limit with no fuss. 5) Oh, and did I mention that I practically begged for a working Creative DAP and they sent me two lemons in a row? In the immortal words of George W. Bush, "“There’s an old saying in Tennessee – I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee – that says, fool me once, shame on – shame on you. Fool me – you can’t get fooled again.” Sorry, Fish. With a higher price point, terrible battery life, and lacking features, the Vision doesn't impress me. If you seriously want a PVP, man up and get one with a good size screen and battery. And if, like us, audio is your primary concern, there is absolutely no question that the Vision M is an inferior machine. Last edited by Jags; 01-17-2006 at 23:28.. |

I like the ZVM but their are specific needs for certain people for DAPs. Some want movies on a small 2.5in screen, and some want to listen to high quality music and not become a flat ipodder. I have seen the Zen Vision:M and Ipod G5 and their owners have seen the X5 and they are impressed. You have to see that some people want certain things with their DAPs and some people here dont like it.
Plus as some one else has noted, your the same guy who said that the CZ:M is at Best Buy. So I doubt you in having the Zen Vision M and probably the people who are happy with their I audio's are probably doubting you too.

no Dap has a battery that can match its inital life after a short while. cowon is the only company that solved this problem by offering a double battery (removable battery would be nice but the vision m doesnt have it and nothing that i know of that matches features even closely does). therefore with the vision M like all other daps your battery will soon be shitty. when mine falls to shit it is going to be like yours was when you first bought it.

Am I alone in thinking that the OP is either confused, lying or a troll? Seems pretty busted either way.
I'm at a loss to rationalise the bitchiness that discussions about various DAPs seem to ignite. My guess is that it's the younger owners who seem to put so much stock in appearance, peer group pressure etc. I'm very happy with my X5. Others are very happy with their assorted DAPs. GOOD! Horses for courses, different strokes and other myriad cliches. I can only speak for myself when I aver that I don't care what anyone thinks of mine, I have no fear of being mugged for it (cold, dead hand springs to mind) and sites like http://anythingbutipod.com/ make me laugh, in addition to wondering about the mental health of some of the more rabid posters. My $0.02. |

besides our differences on whehter or not to give a sh*t about creative or not? i think we can all agree that Steve Jobs needs to stfu when he said "microsoft needs to get into the mp3 player market, all the other companies dont seem to be doing it right" dont quote me directly but if cowon, iriver or even creative spends more money marketting rather on their actual products ipod wouldnt be a household name, it would just be a dumbed down and stripped down DAP that gives you the bare basics and nothing more.
