eric3a: If you don't mind paying for it, check out the iGo system.
I wouldn't mind paying.... But the last I checked (including today) i can't see tha iGo makes an adapter tip for the A2.

Bummer, because it's a good system that would work with other devices I take on the road.

I actually have the igo adaptor and it indeed works. On the cowon america website, it states that the a2 and x5 have the same car/wall charger. So i went ahead and bought the igo tip and it does work.

it's tip "a00" i believe.

Amazingly iGo don't list COWON on their site.
I'll check it out again.

It's listed under "iaudio". I guess they don't know the cowon name.

Hi beatme

Have u already received yor car charger?? Does it work correctly??

Do u know if it is possible to use the Cowon IAudio A2 (playing MP3 music) while it is being charged in our car by the car charger you bought??

Anyone knows if it is also possible to play our MP3 music while our A2 are being charged by our wall chargers??

I have plans to make an entire A2 car craddle for my car with a plug built in to power it. The A2 takes 5V in which is very common in any type of electronics and I'm almost positive my head unit or the connector to it has 5V power somewhere, so I'll just split off of that with a wire that I'll solder a connector to at the other end. Should be simple.

xps600 found the answer at the link he provided. Below the picture of the car charger the caption states:

Car Charger for COWON A2 / iAUDIO X5 / M5 / M3
iAUDIO M5 needs supback for this charger to work.

Is that what everyone wants?

Cut off the 5V plug of the Sony's adapter since it's too big to fit the A2.
Soldered the female adaptaplug in its place, and plugged the type A male plu in it, making sure I had correct polarity (minus on the outside).

So there you go I now finally have a full power car charger. I choose Sony's charge becasue it is explicitely rated at 2 Amps, and the cheaper ones didn't state the Amps.
With 2 Amps, I know that my car charger is as good as my AC charger.

The Archos car charger wasn't powerful enough and eventually the battery would die even though you were plugged in your car's 12V!!!

and they also seel just the prewired female plug of this male/female extender but can't find it on their site:

first time poster here so go easy on me, but that seems like way more work than it's worth when you can just buy a power inverter and charge your A2 using your included wall-charger. It's also kind of expensive. I personally own a Vector 225W (450W max) power inverter which I use to charge my laptop if I travel anywhere. It powers up to 2.1A, and costs about $25 at walmart if I remember correctly. It should power the A2 fine. I don't own an A2 yet, but I will be ordering one tomorrow and that's how I plan to charge it if I travel.

yeah, that appears to be the solution everyone is looking for. It even lists it on the A2 purchase page under "related products". With shipping it's still not a bad price either (about $15).

Yes a power inverter would do fine. Now the whole point is moot since COWON has the official A2 car adapter for sale on their site.

I didn't want a power inverter because of size/weight when travelling. I wanted something small that I can also connect to the planes' power outlet.
Since this thread I have bought the COWON official power supply also.

I had the A2 on continously for 12 hours on my flight down a week ago, and I think my return trip tonight I will do the same.
