Newcomer asking for advice: How to adjust the Jeteffect for G3?

I am a newcomer: just purchased G3 + Creative EP630 earbuds.

I find that the included manual has very little information on how to adjust the JetEffect (equalizer/BBE/Mach3Bass/MP enhance/3D Surround). I think it's quite complicated & inter-related.

Please tell me some basic principles on setting this JetEffect. Any specific suggested settings for G3+EP630?

Also, when using Jetshell to rip CD, what is VBR format? Which has better sound quality: ordinary MP3 or VBR?

Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure where you're having trouble. Are you just trying to figure out where to find these effect settings?

If so, start at the “now playing” screen. Now depending on how you have your player setup, you either click the joystick into the device, or click-and-hold it in. One of these takes you to the Settings menu and the other takes you to the file Navigation menu, (theres a custom setting that allows you to choose which does which, and I've forgotten what the default is). Once in the Settings menu, JetEffect is a submenu that offers menus for each of the effects. Play around with them and you'll figure out what does what.

After you're done, you can return to the “now playing” screen immediately at any time by pressing the Rec/A<>B button that you see at the upper edge of the device. This action also works in the Navigation menu.

If you really want to know the technicalities of the what each effect does, I'm sorry but will leave that to someone else, as I'm not exactly sure myself. After deciding on how I liked the effects set the best, I left them that way and now have forgotten what they were.

As for you other questions, I dont know the answer. Hopefully someone else might. All I know is that VBR stands for Variable Bit Rate (I've never used the JetAudio app).

You can start by setting these two values first and then try the custom equalizer what you think sound best for your headphones, music and ear.
You can see if the settings I'm using work for you, and tweak them from there to suite your setup.

BBE: Level 1
Mach3Bass: Level 2
MP Enhance: OFF

Equalizer: "User" with the following setup.
+14,+7,0,+10,+17 for the 62,250,1K,4K and 16K respectively.

Now these settings are optimized for my headphones (Sennheiser PX100), my ears and taste.
I've been using these settings for quite some time and work really good for all kinds of music and even the included iAudio Bundled earbuds.

Hope this help.
