Default International supply and car adapter for A2

Hi All;

Anyone knows a source for international power supply for the A2?
The unit that comes with the machine is US voltage only and can't cope with 220V.

One of the few things my Archos did better than the A2: It had a nice power supply with interchangeable plugs in US, French and UK standards.

I'd like something similar for my A2.

Also I'd like a car to A2 adapter. Not one of these "one size fits all" jobbies, like Radio Shack, but a tailor made one if possible.

Any info appreciated.

Talking to myself....:blah:

Looking around seems the PSP has a 5V 2Amp DC in... Would be handy if it used the same plug as the A2 since there would be dozens of power supplies then.

Anybody knows?
I'll probably check it out myself soon in a shop.

Are you sure that the unit you got with your A2 can only accept 110V?
From what I heard, it can accept 110-220V, 50/60Hz so you wouldn't need an adapter,
just a plug converter (which you can pick up anywhere for a couple of bucks)

I know there is a car lighter adapter available somewhere, selling for around $26 I believe.
Can't remember where I found it, but it exists.

Finally, according to the manual (found online) the A2 works on 5V 2A so your PSP adapter might work,
depends on the plug (did you actually check to see if it fits?)

Hope this helps.

Seen you another forum I think...

Yes the Wall Wart for the A2 says on it 110 V input. Not a range like 110V - 230V) like international adapters, so I'd fry it if I were to plug it in in a 220V socket via an adapter.

Yes I had also found that the PSP and the A2 both take 5V 2A (actually the power supply reads 1.5 A so it's fine at 2 A). I was hoping someone on this forum had both the A2 and the PSP and could tell me if the plugs are: same size, same polarity (+ inside).

I'll check it out myself at some point, but any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

eric3a:

Have you had a chance to test whether A2 and PSP use the same power connector? I woudl be very interested in your results if you did.

PSP power adapters can be found for a song...

The adapter that comes with the A2 in the US is indeed compatible with 220V / 50Hz AC power!

I called Cowon and they confirmed this to me. Apparently, they just put the wrong sticker on the AC adapter....

Guess it's only a matter of time before a car charger is released.
In the meantime, if you have the money, check out www.igo.com for a universal charger device (wall 110V / 220V, car, airplane)

Thanks for that.
I haven't had time to check the PSP power supplies yet.
I was going to call COWON tech support myself because the Manual says 110/220V which is highly confusing when the molded plastic on the adaptor says 110V.

I am just travelling too much and crazy busy. But soon as I can I'll check the PSP inputs.

Read my review. I expressivly stated that ALL power supplies work everywhere. I have a korean, german, australian and american power supply. All work fine.

The PSP power supply is the correct voltage (and give out a decent current) - the problem is that the jack/plug is proprietary and you'll need to solder on an A2 jack with the correct polarity. Does anyone know the diameter/part number of the A2 power socket?
