Sorry if the question was asked before but i couldn't find an answer.
As I understand it, the only diference between the usb host and the subpack usb is that you can connect other devices to the usb host but not to the subpack usb which is reserved to a pc-x5 conenction, right? If that's the case, can u connect a PC (motherboard usb) to the my x5l from the usb host. any idea ? |

Yes you can. As a matter of fact, for DRM purposes, the only way to transfer files between a PC and X5 is through the usb otg port.
Also, the usb otg port is much slower (USB1.1) than the usb port on the subpack (USB2.0).

You can sync files from the computer to your X5 (through the usb host) if that is what you are getting at.

ok, then i tried to do it, and i see a little icon on the bottom right of my pc (the dark usb icon you get when u have a new usb conencted to your pc). The x5l says "connected" for 10 seconds, and then the icon disappears and the x5l says "ok to disconenct".
no new HD under "my computer". |

Do you have the new firmware installed?
Edit: I would test it out, but I don't have a spare usb cable |

yep, last firmware. And x5l "usb mode" is set to "hub (no charge)", although may be that's only relevant for the subpack usb!
I also use the motherboard usb in my pc. |

If you don't mind my asking, why would you use the USB Host to transfer stuff between your PC and X5 when the subpack connection is significantly faster?

it sounds like you're trying to use the usb host port for syncing drm files with the latest firmware. if that's what you're trying to do then it sounds like you're having one of the common problems with the computer not recognizing it. i'd say reload the firmware again until it finally works. i assume you're not just using the usb host port to transfer files just for fun, because the subpack port is much faster, like doniago is saying.

Well,
Right now I'm only trying to sync files. But i do have drm files. didn't try that yet. It is easier to keep that little usb cable in my pocket in case i need to transfer data from friends. The subpack is cumbersome and teh usb cable that comes ith it is too long (i got to many cables, and too many electronic devices: pda, cell, DAP, laptop..too much to carry). I installed the latest firmware and it says that when i start my x5l. should i keep reinstalling ? Is there similar problems with win xp not recognizing x5l usb host? any idea ? |
