I just got my Rio Carbon mini-HD DAP today. My first impression are absolutely positive. The build quality is very good, much more solid than my I-4 with it's plastic back. Sound-quality wize the Carbon totally blows the I4 away, I didn't expect this player to sound this good, considering the I4 one of the best flashplayers out there!

I will update this post when I tested my Carbon a little more thorough!

Ya it's a nice unit, Ive had one since day one... just don't run or jog with it (it will skip) and be careful of headphones with metal jacks .. they short out on the chrome top.

As far as sound I always thought the carbon sounded a little warmer than my iaudio and my iaudio sounded better in the high end. I think the carbons amp has more juice , because they both use sigmatel chips and codecs.

I like what they did with the lighting on that unit too .. very classy!!

I would put the carbon against the ipod mini or even creatives new mini anyday.

Gotta go play half life 2 !!!!!!!!!! yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I already put a little piece of sticky tape over the headphone-jack so I won't be bothered with static... I like the design very much too, all the buttons are in the right place, it fits in your pocket easily and the lighting indeed is stunning!

I guess your right about the highs that are a little better performed by the Iaudio, but the higher output of the Carbon really makes up for the highs that are slightly rolled off... Bass is more punchy and correct, mids are far more clear! I like it!

I wonder when iaudio is going to make a mini hd player?? If they even are going to make one at all. It seems to be a hot market- 5 gigs is plenty for most people.

Its still nice to have a good flash player for running and excercise!!
