X5 Intermittent Crash with Beta Firmware?

For the past couple weeks my X5 has been 'randomly' crashing. I'll be playing a song, and the X5 will just stop.
- The screen remains black (it was black during playback - normal)
- The power appears to be on.
- Fiddling with the joystick does nothing.

Pressing UP on the on/off switch turns the X5 OFF (you hear a power spike through the headphones). I can then turn the X5 back on. Playback of the same song does reproduce the crash. I am playing folders that contain about 10 songs (I don't have large playlists).

Anybody else experience this problem? Is it possible to downgrade the firmware - I want to make sure this isn't a hardware bug (doesn't seem hardware related - but who knows!).

Thanks everybody,
Anil

I have had my player "stick" a few times. If I toggled the power it oddly came back to the first song it had queued when I first turned the power on (as if I hadn't played anything in the meantime). Since I normally do Shuffle-All, I can't speak for whether the same song would crash the player again (yet, anyway).

Have you tried re-encoding the song(s) in question?

I have the Beta firmware and I have had no problems. Maybe the firmware files you downloaded was corrupt or missing a file or two. Have you tried re doing the firmware upgrade? Or if the previous version worked better, maybe revert back to that version? Good luck...

The strange thing is that it's only happend 3 or 4 times, each time with a different song. I think I'll just keep playing music until I can figure out a pattern... :o
