basically the X9 is a Flash Memory based X7 with a selection of 8-32GB choice. bout 7hrs more battery life from the X7 but the UI? come on cowon... and no SD Card Slot?! wow

Okay, so this is the X7's successor... let's hope the CPU is better and Flash was upgraded, because then it's possible to create smooth interfaces.

The GUI looks very nice, though. Way better than the J3's or X7's GUI.

@WAI: The product page says there's a microSD slot.

Hmmm, why is the resolution so low? 272x480 on a 4.3" screen is pretty freaking stupid if you ask me.

Is this a proprietary flash-based Cowon OS?

I do have to say I LOVE the battery life in audio mode: 110 hours!!

I just looked in the product page if the X9 has a proprietary or a miniUSB port... it has a proprietary one. WTF Cowon...

I cannot see this as a X7 replacement with only 32gb memory when the X7 has 1200 or 160 gb.
Why when memory gets bigger do they always stick with 32 max.
And does it not come into competition with the Z2 now.

With a 64gb SD card you can have up to 96gb memory. If it's an SDXC slot, you can even use 128+gb cards.

But I agree, Cowon should at least sell a 64gb version, too.

Kizune i understand that (i did not see a 128 card around but will look). I have 64gb card in my Z2. But with SSD around now at cheaper prices surely we can get bigger players. Or do we just always have to follow the trend. Maybe the world is not full of old farts like myself with huge music collections.

Fairly cheap: $260 for the 32GB version

Also noted the asymetric position of the screen with a black band on the left side (or right)... Weird...

IMO Narrow white border plus black band looks better, then wide white border on the left and narrow borders on other sides.
Proprietary connector is a fail. I'm afraid the J3 successor will be the same story: minimalistic design + updated firmware without new features except JE5 = new device.
