Default Cable, ugh.

Does anyone else have trouble with the USB cable on their J3 being really, really twitchy and sensitive?

The white one that came with it, with my machine at home, is a little bit touchy. I wish it clicked into place a little more positively, but it does work.

I ordered an extra cable at Amazon from JetAudio, and aside from taking its sweet time showing up, when I use it with my work machine it's giving me fits.

Plugging it in will boot up my J3 and then act like it's not plugged in at all. Occasionally, it will flash the "connected" display for about 2 seconds and then shut down, and Windows will pop up an error message. Once it showed the icon for non-computer charging, then shut off when I barely touched the J3.

I tried several USB ports on my machine -- there are about 10 on this case -- and it makes no difference.

Have other people had trouble with these cables in general, or the JetAudio ones specifically?

Is there a recommended source for these cables other than JetAudio? I've heard this is a standard Korean USB cable type; is there a known cellphone that uses this type so I can find the cables locally perhaps?

It's not plugged into the J3 properly. It fits tight, and you have to push pretty hard the first couple times.

i thought, that my computer, or my j3 was broken... the cable is pretty tight...

also, one of my usb ports was causing funny stuff, in the past.... try connecting to another usb port, and if it doesn't work, it means, "push it harder in the j3"....

also had the twitchy issue,
i kinda mistreated my cable with my chair wheels and it started losing connection so i opened up the jack to repair it.
firstly i assumed id just squished the cable to death, then looked closer and saw the cable started bend way too much at the jack and then started to twist freely where they hadn't inserted the cable enough (it was only set in about 1mm). nor glued the cable sleeve to the jack properly.
(a pretty pathetic thin line of hard setting fast aging glue on anything non porous and flexible is just stupid...or just cheap).

found there were a couple of exposed wires in there that were shorting out were the heat shrink had been scraped off where it should have been encased in resin but was left on the outside.
it had scraped off prior to them fitting the outer shell on the jack.
also noticed the protective braid was really poorly connected and frayed, not to mention the lil wire and copper trim it connected to being dirty and oxidised instead of a nice clean copper (lack of glue or just old parts) and the solder on it was so little it was not actually soldered together, instead just a touch contact :\

simply a case of poor construction.

i really was not impressed by what i saw in there.

apart from all that the wire tips were soldered to the pcb neatly and coated nicely in resin, it was just a half arsed attempt at putting it all together.

if i were you i'd replace it straight away with a decent quality one (thats if its not due to the proper insertion mentioned by andrew and kizune or simply dirty connectors).

i dont know many good cable manufacturers off by heart but i tend to buy belkin cables if i can although the prices are lil higher than normal.

Ah okay, it goes deeper than I first thought. The plastic bit on the cable nearly touches the case of the player. It makes a lot more sense now. Thanks folks
