I tried to use the 64GM micro sized SDXC card with my Sony Tablet P and it works. When connecting to Win7, the computer can read and write the 64GB card correctly. (It only connects the tablet drive as a device, not a drive. Maybe this is reason to read normally.)

Just bought the SanDisk 64gb off Amazon UK for £45 !
Only that for 2 hours or so - now back up to £65.
Pleased to read it works OK though - took it for granted it did !

Many thanks to DSperber and the rest here for the exhaustive testing and research. I decided to go for it (swapping out my Sandisk 32Gb SDHC for the 64Gb SCXC card discussed here) since my J3 (32+32) is almost filled up with just music and I can use the extra 32Gb. Just ordered; haven't received.

But I wanted to post a couple links with very good pricing that I found after searching:

64Gb card for US $60 shipped: http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?s...lerid=10001650

SDXC card reader for US $5 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

Note: order the reader directly from Komputerbay in the Featured Merchants listing, not Amazon, to get free shipping without $25 minimum order.

Hope these might help somebody else.

If you already have an adapter you should be fine. Or, I think the SanDisk retail micro cards all come with an adapter.

Anyway, you WILL need a micro->SD adapter for use with that card reader.

My own purchase a few months back was also from Komputerbay and included all three items... card, adapter, and reader. He had the group priced at $97 at that time. It's pretty amazing that he's now selling the card readers separately for just $5.

I recently bought the sandisk 64 card as above although the class 10 variant and all is well. So for people looking for the class 6 card, fret no more and simply purchase the class 10 with confidence. BTW, there is currently no V4 standard SD format cards available. All cards conform to the V3 format which the J3 can read.

UPDATE: the card did come with a full-size adapter, and works perfectly after formatting per DSperber's instructions. I used TreeSize Free to determine which folders held the most data, and which of those had the largest average file sizes. Then I copied files to the 64Gb card, starting with the largest, to take advantage of the large storage space. Stopped at 7994 files to avoid the 8,000 file limit, the loaded the rest into the internal 32Gb memory. Net result: went from a total of 2Gb free space to 11Gb free internally. (Even though the 64 has plenty of free space, I've hit the file limit.) The problem is my total of 14,643 music files, so I will hit the internal-memory 8,000 file limit well before I run out of storage space. It's a real pity, but all my music is loaded and I have room for another 100 new CDs or so in the future.

You're correct, but I already have a couple adapters so didn't even think about that. However, doing a web search on the Buy.com mfgr. part number turns it up on Amazon and other sites, showing it coming with the adapter - so I suspect it won't be an issue. I'll try to remember to post an update when I receive it.

Looks like others have discovered that link; shows "sold out" for now.

Just wanted to add a post-script to the thread...

I'd been "afraid" to use my 64GB card in the old IOGear card reader I had bought several years ago for $10 (which actually has an actual micro slot in addition to an SD slot), thinking it was probably not compatible with the 64GB SDXC card. It now sells for $5+.

I didn't even want to take a chance doing any damage to it, trusting instead that new SDXC card reader which I'd gotten along with my purchase of the SanDisk card+adapter from Komputerbay... which is also now selling for $5

Anyway, tonight I was playing around and needed to access the 64GB card for some maintenance. I decided to get really gutsy and go ahead with trying the IOGear reader, thus avoiding the need to use the SanDisk adapter.

Well, amazingly, it worked perfectly! Showed up as the "correct" 60GB in DISKMGMT, and was able to read/write perfectly from the PC.

So, I would think that pretty much says ANY micro/SD-slot card reader will work with these 64GB cards. No fear any longer, at least not with the two readers I own.

AT these prices, it means one thing, that the 128Gb card is almost here. To bad it wont work in the J3(v4 specs).

What? It said 149.99 when I just looked (bestbuy). bhphoto.com has been offering it for 59.99 but is out of stock now (it was in a few days ago).

I could be wrong but I don't think 128gb micro is coming any time soon. 256gb full sized might be on its way though I haven't seen any announcements. 128gb full sized is now 89.99 at bhphoto and I'm tempted to get one for my d2 (more likely I'd use it in my netbook).

I've been seeing 32gb microsdhc for as low as 15-16 dollars (0.50/gb) at newegg.com, and my guess is that's enough storage that people aren't willing to pay big premiums per gb for 64gb cards. I've been resisting ordering a 64gb because the 32gb's are so much more cost effective and I'm not yet short on capacity.

You did not read my post:

They were indeed $49.99 with free shipping -- I have two arriving tomorrow!

Hmm, multiple dealers seem to have drastically cut the price of this card and then run out of them. I wonder if it was some kind of inventory dump because of some problem with the card (speed, reliability, whatever) or just a response to the very low prices of 32gb cards recently. Oh well, I'm kind of glad I missed the deal, since it would have been hard to resist even though I don't have a good immediate use for the card.

This deal was mentioned on several other forums so the sellout is not surprising. I have seen similar specials from other vendors as well. I already have one of these cards installed in my Xoom for videos/movies and have had no problems. A great price for 64GB.

Was wondering if I buy SanDisk Memory Card Mobile Ultra 64 GB Class 6 without adapter will the San disk microsd adapter (comming with 32 GB sandisk micro sd card) work with the SanDisk Memory Card Mobile Ultra 64 GB Class 6 card.
