I have been playing about with various UIs recently.
I was quite happy with Kizune's Leaf, Lynx and Sense but I thought I'd try the other ones that have been mentioned in the posts recently (Metro and Asurada) Things were fine until I tried the 'Metro' UI. This was initially OK until I went into the 'Options' and chose 'Theme 2' (I only had a choice of Theme 2 or 3). This changed my front end menu to a 'Text' menu similar to the original X7 one but with a black background instead of any pictures. I tried pushing the center button to try and get back to the main 'Metro' menu or even the original 'Widget' menu but that did not work. It seemed stuck on this new black 'Text' menu so I tried some of the other UIs (ie. Kizunes leaf and Lynx etc. and Asurada). I was able to see different appearances in browser or when the music was playing but again the Mainmenu was just a black background 'Text' menu (and again the center button did not work to bring up the Widget menu. It is as if this menu setting is kept somewhere in the memory (but where?) Can anyone help? (I've also tried reloading the Firmware (2.08)) |

Look for a .sol file at "System/Flash UI/SOL" which seems to belong to Metro.
It'll contain "metro" somewhere in its name. Remove that and you should be good to go! |

Thanks Olorin for your reply but I deleted the whole SOL directory (as well as the 'metro' directory, mainmenu1.swf and password). This was when I tried to load up another UI.
(I found previously that it was possible to delete this folder as each time a new UI was installed the X7 re-created this SOL folder again and added whatever files were relevant in it) I hope that by deleting this I haven't lost something that is now irretrievable. |

Is it possible to re-format the X7 FLASH drive and re-install the Firmware without 'Bricking' the X7?
If so do I need to copy certain files over to a PC (or even the X7 HDD) so that I can copy them back after formatting? Last edited by ngc1967; 10-25-2011 at 07:15.. |

Not sure if it works, but try to install a mainmenu UCI (whichever you like) as 'mainmenu3.swf'. I'm pretty sure you are stuck in the third mainmenu which was never finished on the X7 but is still accessible. By installing a UCI as mainmenu3.swf, you should be able to get out of the third mainmenu.

Thanks very much Kizune.
That worked just right. I installed a new UI and renamed the mainmenu as no. 3. This let me get up the new front end UI and from there I was able to get to the original X7 UI. I then deleted the files in the Flash UI folder and I now have the X7 in the original UI state. I can now rebuild it again with your Lynx, Leaf and Sense |

Can you please help me to get the right folder configuration to use Leaf, Lynx and Sense. I have the same problem having played too much with too many UIs.
Thanks |

Hi Gierre,
Not sure if you have solved your problem (I haven't been able to get on line for a few days). What exactly has happened to your X7? When mine played up I got the 'Text' menu but with a plain black backgroud and could not get any other main menus up even if I had loaded them up. |
