Hi Helli,
I have problem getting the PC to recognised the Cowon C2 to do a reflash. The first time I experience this I manage to reflash from connection by USB. This time, the PC will not recognised and I have no access to root directory to do a refresh. Any advise how to hard reset or get the PC to recognised the cowon? Thanks. |

Same here - It was a Mac that bricked my C2.
The support-people from exportprive told me to never use a cowon-player with a MAC-Computer - because MACs destroy Cowon-devices ;-) Maybe it's because MACs write some hidden system-files on every device connected, and if you have a bad USB-connection (like a not properly inserted plug on the C2) this can cause damage during writing-process ? Maybe i had luck, i still had access to the root and could reflash it. Did you try the long pressing of some buttons (+/- ?) as described in the manual ? |

Yes, I have already tried the long pressing of reset via volume button but still does not work. I think it is permanent coma already. Do you have cowon customer service email or support site? Really quite piss that this is my 3rd cowon that I have to sell again....since Mac gives such big problem. Thanks for your help Helli.

It's kind of strange. I've read in forums that people all around the world are experiencing all kind of problems with freezing and stuff... but I had mine for a week or so, updated firmware 2 times and never had ANY problem at all and I'm super happy with the experience so far.
Maybe there are defective C2's or something? |

Guys, if you have problems with the C2 and Mac, you should check out the S9's and J3's Troubles & Problems sections. S9 and J3 users have the same problems with Mac and there are some good workarounds.

there are programs out there (some linked dif places here and on ABI) that will remove the crap files OSX writes to the device and avoid the mac issues.
Apple wont fix the issue because it only effects other companies media players and such, so it is sort of a way to force you to get an ipod(and give them more money) I will look if i can find that link when i get to the office(headed out now) |

So that could be one of the possibilities. I'm a Windows 7 user. NEVER had any trouble.

I think the best workaround to the mac issue is to not give apple your money(dont buy a mac), Its not that I hate apple, I dont, I hate 3 things about apple.
1. their "it just works" BS that has never really been true. 2. their brainwashed user base who think they are immune to problems/viruses/malware because apples commercials said so. 3. their idiotic prices when compared to a truly quality custom built windows machine. honestly tho, their user base is one of the most annoying to deal with they will tell the tech they are paying to repair their computer that the problem cant possibly be this or that because apple/st.steve said mac's cant have those problems.....even as your showing them they installed a "dialer" thats charging them by the minute to look at a porn site, and also is causing popups and shit.(i consider that malware personally, be it on windows of osx) all in all, I have converted more long time mac users to windows due to cost and support issues, The image alot of mac users have that a windows system is less reliable then a mac is only true of OEM boxes running OEM bundle ware, even a low end emachien or the like is of equivalent quality parts wise to a mac. sorry this got me ranting, gotta stop myself, i could go another page or 2 with mac support horror stories(os6-7-8-9 are less reliable then un patched win95....) you may want to setup a dual boot with windows 7 using bootcap(to the OP) that would let you avoid the issues totally without having to have a 2nd computer around. |

Thanks for all the advises. Cowon c2 does not have hard reset button and so this make it even tougher to follow previous models. My cowon c2 is still in COMA and I hope any cowon staff reading this can pm me a solution. Trouble is I cannot even get the windows pc to recognize the cowon for me to reflash. Guess this will be the last cowon I will try.

According to ABi review, you can reset the player by holding down both volume buttons at the same time for a second or two.
