The code of Aero Music and Sense regarding Playlists is the same. I.e. each line of code is identical.
I just loaded a playlist which contains 119 files to check if I have the same problem - it took exactly 18 seconds.

Also, what do you mean by sluggish?

i only noticed this as i was making a small playlist of noise files for use with burning in headphones. previously i thought id been mistaken.

also the playlist load time seems way up over your previous music uci, annoying having to touch the screen several times just to stop the player shutting down before the list has loaded. for 50 songs it takes approx. 5mins to load the list, for 150 it takes a few mins more.

i remember your previous one was quite a bit quicker and i could load a full list before anything shut down (sleep time 3mins).

im also using your current mainmenu uci, which i like, but is also very sluggish.

i hope these issues can be fixed in the near future and the quality brought up to your previous standard, keep up the good work.
Sense and Lynx seem pretty fast and smooth for me (It also doesn't help that Lynx and Sense are my primary Mainmenu and music ui) - it must be your device and some Sol file crapping up on you to cause such a performance slow down. Maybe you should clear your sol folder and possible firmware reinstall (install 2.23 firmware as I found 2.24 and 2.25 very buggy) to start fresh. Also, playlists load up fast for me as well - loaded over 100 songs and loaded way less than 5 minutes in my experience (others may vary).

Could be ill-effects from your J3 you dropped a few months ago finally creeping up... could not be I don't know...

im talking about sluggish as in jittering from one mainscreen to the next (2 total), you can almost see the frames. and btw i have our previous main uci installed as well as another,,both run perfectly.

i wouldnt be here pointing out this issue unless id compared and it didnt seem out of place.

ill give my player a rinse and see what goes on, just out of curiosity could it be related to the notepad viewer widget?, as i have many notes that are maxed out (my hobby being game level creation\editing, i take dwn a lot of notes).

anyways gonna go delete screen stuff one at a time n see what happens. if not i'll back it up and start over, see whats afoot at the circle k

dawriter, i know you love your kizune but theres a whole lot of issues that could be causing this that are not related to hardware faults, and as it only occurs with this uci i doubt its worth even considering.
rma scaremongering isnt helping or effective in this case. the sol issue is a little more realistic, although i did clear the sol folder before installing the uci.
also, just because i used the word sluggish and point out that something isnt working for me does not mean im attacking kizune, im simply sharing my experiences in the hope that one day we get a solid uci. as ive said many times i think what kizune is doing here is wonderfull and he\she gets my respect and appreciation on many levels, although maybe not as many as yourself

That's kinda why I stopped at my RMA sentence, I thought about it and suggested deleting your sol files and having a possible reinstall of your firmware (I don't know what firmware you are on but 2.24 and 2.25 had lots of issues with my J - I found 2.23 to be the most stable). I'll retract a bit of my post to sound less ... intimidating, I do apologize If I came off that way.

I also had remembered you dropped your device 4ft or something of that sort and thought maybe something might be wrong of the internals- my only reason why RMA even came into the subject. You did mention that the other UI's run fine, so I retract my idea...

I tried in both Lynx and Sense to get the same situation you have, but I can't replicate it.
In Lynx I placed the two most cpu-consuming widgets on my desktop, which are the android clock and the post-it widget. But the transition is still quite smooth. Sure it lags a bit, but it's by no means bad. Moreover, in Chakra you get the same lags when you use these two widgets.

And about Sense, I have no idea why it takes that much time to load the playlists.

To me it sounds like either a corrupted file causes these problems (some weeks ago, it was confirmed that all types of broken files cause problems on the J3, no matter if it's a picture, a music file or anything else), or you use a badly-coded launcher (launcher.swf), or something in the firmware uses quite a lot CPU (which may be the case when there's a broken file).

If you don't believe a broken file can cause remarkable problems:

http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpo...&postcount=505

"im having a problem with custom icons (again) for some reason, when i recently added a few apps (flight arena, pixel assasin, j3guide)
the custom icon menu goes bezerk. it freezes at first, and requires a lock (screen off) and then screen on to unfreeze, and then the last few pages have empty white spots, like where icons used to be, but arent there anymore"

That was caused by a broken picture.

What is a good launcher, and can a launcher do anything besides up the frame rate?

Launchers can increase the framerate and improve the performance of the player a bit (increased framerate != better performance).

IMO Klaus launcher is very good, but only S9 users can use it. For the J3 there aren't any good launchers.

Well... there is one launcher that is in 0.6 state...
It is very buggy though and can cause some weird UI reactions sometimes (0 Battery, etc.)

http://naubull2.tistory.com/98

Use at your own risk as it also is prone to corrupting sol files (personal experience)...

Kizune I'm not sure if it's too late to request additions, I know you're currently working on Leaf exclusively, but would it be possible to create a feature where when you press and hold the browser button to get to the tracklist, it has tabs (that takes you to different lists) for "all tracks by artist" and "all tracks in album" for the currently playing song? Not sure if that makes any sense, but I'm not sure how else to explain it...
Thanks!

Let's talk about new features when I've finished all other projects. There are still many parts of the UI to replace.

Good point Kizune. Typist UCI, please pretty please?
That and Settings are pretty much the only apps I use

Kizune next project has already been hinted by him...
If you hadn't notice this thread, Kizune made a "PDF/JPG" Document Viewer.
http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=39528

I ask about a Text Viewer Ui and he said,

There are only Four UI's left to even touch on the Cowon S9/J3/X7...
Movie.swf, Text.swf, Radio.swf, and I guess Typist.

I have no clue how he would even improve Typist besides making it his famous black color scheme and icons... I guess that would be easy to do in one day if that's what you are lookin for (and it's all he can actually code)...

P.S. I don't think he can actually fool with the settings menu that is hard coded in the Cowon players. I think Claw tried and all he could really do was fool with the colors and transparency... why is this going off topic is beyond me - it's like the 3rd time in the past few weeks...

dawriter, my apologies for being a bitchy @#@#@#@, just had a bunch of agro, came here to chill n concentrate on something else, got wound up more, but its really no excuse.

i havent done any real diagnostics as yet (came here to apologize), but i got rid of a lot of the jittering by removing the clock from the screen, i had one on each screen, the full info on my office type screen and the text only on my audio screen, i removed the full, no change, removed the text only, less jittery.
there was no impact on the playlist load time. gonna clear the system folder and rebuild my config tomorrow.
ive checked for disk and file issues but none are detected.
