I've gone back and forth (Korean to N.A to Korean), and it worked every time. Make sure you have a valid file. Perhaps download it again.

I get an error message each time. Have you gone back from 1.27 to a x.25 flavour? Me think that may be impossible (i.e. not tested by Cowon).

It may consider x.25 not an upgrade from 1.27. I guess I've always gone up in number which may be why it always worked for me.

I can reflash 1.27, so it may be impossible to go back...

Same kind of problem here, just bought a Cowon D3 straight from Korea, impossible to update to any of the other firmware...stuck at 2.27 (eu version, I did the update the first time)--- the system is buggy as ever, can't do anything else while listening to something, it's awful. I was loving my J3, this D3 was supposed to be a present to my brother, but he doesn't like it at all.
![]() I've tried to download the american version (3.27), the asian one (4.27), but the update crashes after a couple of seconds, leaving me with a bang (!) in a red triangle...pushing me to force a reboot... I've transferred the update files either from a mac, from ubuntu and than from windows, thinking that maybe the problem was the ntfs compatibility (wonder why freaking iaudio decided to shake hands with Microsoft...is it just to give us the "opportunity" to manage files bigger than 4gb??? Is it right to sacrifice the freedom of easily manage my files on every possible system?) - - - nothing worked out. Really don't get it, hope someone can help. All those versions are the same FW so from globs experience i don't think it sees this as an update so won't do it. I went from Eu 1.25 to Korean 1.27 to EU 2.27 without any problem.

You're right Simmo... I just thought that 2.27,3.27 and 4.27 were different firmwares, but they have the same improvements, so different names only refer to different zones.
All right than, my device is freezing every time I want to select new albums, and Roger Waters sounds drunk every time I try to use the equalizer while listening to something... the new firmware might have some improvements, but the experience is still awful... feels like iAudio is using us to test their beta released PMP, and "WE" even paid them! Unbelievable. We should massively send this device back and ask for a refund, that might be fun, and the company might think ten times before scr%&!ng his affectionate customers. |

They keep chipping away at the problems, and have added a few new features too. The price has even dropped $10 (to $360) at amazon.com too.

The problem with Cowon is that they're confused about everything that has to do with marketing... It's premium on the cheap! I would have happily paid $50 MORE for them to put a Snapdragon processor in the D3 (and not something that's years old and no one ever uses) and avoid all those performance and stability problems... They lose far more customers by releasing a product that is so... unrefined, than by charging $50 more...
In any case, I am just hoping that they'll release a 7" tablet ONLY when they'll finished sorting the D3... They obvioulsy have still a lot to learn about Android!! Stop the hicups and give me gapless and I'll be satisfied since videos playback is really good and the sound is awesome! I wonder if there's any way to contact them directly to give them feedback?

Firmware version 1.29 --- things getting better. More stability but still no gapless and some hiccups...and there are some FLAC albums that play awesome on my J3 and give me an "unknown error" on my D3.
I'm still working for free as a tester for iAudio... ...Starting to hate this people, software companies usually pay for this kind of job... You can contact them on www.cowonglobal.com in the Q&A section: ask them "why" they want to lose their face just to put on the market "the first Android PMP". Being the first is not always a good thing, hope their "first no-glasses 3D PMP" is better than this...but sure I'm not going to buy it and do for free a job that is usually paid. |
