Help Ok, still problems installing RB

I have had to, for the 4th time, use Tcctool to restore my D2 original model after:

First 2 attempts using auto installer.

Second 2 attempts using Andrews instructions from the other thread here.

Now here is what goes wrong:

After installing, things seem to run properly, but even after powering down the player, ANY attempt to plug it into the USB port causes rockbox to appear and the device not be seen by the computer.

I've tried 4 times.

I am wondering if there is either:

1. Something wrong with the directions.

2. Or either of the two versions of rockbox I installed are messed up.

3. Or the bootloader linked by Andrew could be the issue?

Quite stressful as I don't want to brick the player, but I want rockbox badly, I love it!

EDIT: The version Rockbox is the original model, and firmware 2.59.

Is there anyone that is willing and can help?

Sorry for needing hand holding.

I used to have rockbox working on this, but it got corrupted with a divide error and I haven't been able to successfully reinstall it.

I am in the unique situation of not having enough income to buy another player of any kind so I don't want to brick this, but I very badly want rockbox on it.

tried setting in hold before plugging in the usb cable? works for me ^^ (before booting of course)
edit: if it doesn't turn on by itself, power on and switch back to hold before he can load anything, of course do this with usb-cable plugged in

Thanks, I will try that. I'm back up and running but RB is kinda acting flaky. I realized (and it was confirmed) that I needed to use the older version I used before it borked. 27530.

I hope our very valued coder doesn't give up on D2 RB and that a future version is a little more stable.

After using RB using the native OS is just bleh. So much more straight forward browsing for what I want in RB, and to be honest, I prefer the 3 x 3 grid touch system.

I have a question:

How is Rockbox different on, say a stable iPod release, are there features currently not accessible in D2 RB?
