Default question about google ads

I'm just wondering...what degree of control do the admins have over the ads that appear in the box at the top of the page? I don't like to be a pain about these things, but I saw two tonight that kinda upset / annoyed me. one was political in nature, and one was for a really skeezy looking dating site.

if we have no control - that's fine, nature of the beast. but if we have ANY control, I'd like to formally request we avoid sexual and political ads at the top!

in the past I would have just adblocked them, but I recently read about how adblock actually robs websites of advertising cash by not even loading the ads, and the last thing I want to do is hurt this site!

n5t, although I don't know how google ads works,
I CAN tell you that adblock does not hurt anywebsite (including this ones) because adblock allows the data to be sent, but none of the data is displayed.

(I read that article too, but it was BS)

edit: i stand corrected. most ads are pay per click not view.
