Upgrading from D2+ to S9 questions

I recently bought a D2+ due the raving reviews about the SQ of the device and it does sound great. But here comes the downfall of the player, it's chunky, the screen is so small, the sensitivity is mediocre and it's somewhat outdated. So now I'm considering the S9 or something along the line with great SQ and battery life like the D2+. I've been watching some video reviews of the S9 and it seems like the navigation of the player is quite choppy and not so smooth like the iPod touch. Is there a FW update that fixes this issue? Would you recommend the S9 or the O2? The expansion slot is a plus but I wouldn't stress over it. The bottom line is, would you recommend the upgrade from D2+ to S9? or another DAP? No bias comments/recommendations please. Thank you.

Okay. The reviews all use the stock UI's, which are not that good. When you use some UI's from here, there is no problem. Its not as smooth as the iPod touch, but its good enough. The biggest thing about the UI's is that you need to load when switching between them. There is some lag there, of about 1 second or less. Its not that bad, but it irritates me sometimes.

I would get this. The community is great, and the amount of updates and dedication of the developers (the UI ones, Cowon could be better). The screen is great, the soundquality is unmatched (get some good cans).
To conclude. You want this for the media, but if you want games and other extras this is not the best player for you. I am not familiair with the O2, so dont know about that.

the S9 is worth it man. i had a D2 for nearly 2yrs and Loved all the Themes and Flash UIs for it. though you loose SDHC Card slot but eh i didn't care.

I would be pretty surprised to hear anyone recommend the O2 over the S9. just cruise the O2 forums and see how satisfied most of the owners are with their hardware, then compare it to here.

more or less every issue with the S9's UI navigation can be pretty easily fixed with different user made UIs.

Well I highly doubt I'll be playing games on the S9, there is the iPhone for that. I will definitely utilize the gorgeous OLED screen for videos. I have some decent cans already so I'm set on that aspect. Yeah the biggest annoyance could as well be the spiky UI but that's only if I compare it to Apple products. Damn they do it so well... I think the S9 would dominate the market if their R&D put more time in the UI touch aspect of the player.

With Klaus Browser the browsing part and kinetic scrolling as as smooth as the ipod touch. There is a slight delay when going from for example main menu to music screen, but its tiny, and just a part where apple hides the slowness of their own UI with flashy transitions. The UI shouldnt be a problem as allmost anyone would be able to find a UCI they like.

iPod Touch is known for its awesome Hardware+Software integration,its third gen is 50% faster than its previous versions,it real quick,but gives a crappy sound output,if you don't mind slight delay(very very slight lag) go for S9 hands down,you wont regret about its SQ....

1)sound quality
2)screen size and quality
3)games and accessories with great graphic &....
rate every one of these from zero to ten
I didn't had S9 but for my need D2 is better.
If you mostly listen to songs and you don't want to spend much If you pay for headphone and portable amplifier I think it's more reasonable (if you mostly listen to music) thats only my personal view not more.

Anyone here from Toronto, Canada? I've been searching for a 16gb S9 and the cheapest I can find that ships to Canada is amazon.com for $247.97. Too bad newegg.ca only sells the 8gb and it cost just as much as the 16gb in the states, $199.99 but it comes with free shipping to Toronto. CanadaComputers and NCIX.com both sells the 16gb for $269.99 + tax&shipping, that's quite costly. Amazon.ca doesn't sell S9 anymore...
