Default ScummVM on Rockbox

Members,

I've got hold of my new D2+ and so far RockBox has been the ultimate interface for it.

Doom rocks, but other games are not that great. So I was wondering would it be possible to get a ScummVM emulator for Rockbox.

I have never played Gameboy so don't know whether its better than ScummVM or not.

In short I'm looking for more DOOM like games for D2+. It surely rocks!.

It doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. There has been discussion about porting ScummVM for several years now, but afaik, work hasn't even started yet.

Guess we're out of luck here, unless someone feels like rewriting ScummVM for C.

Man it would be so cool to play DotT on the D2 *sighs*

..which seems like a rather tedious and unneccesary task. Changing the plugin interface to allow C++ plugins in Rockbox might be a better use of a developer's time, but even then porting something like ScummVM would be a huge task on top.

The GCC compiler we use can compile C++ code quite happily - it's a design choice to allow only C code currently, since the Rockbox runtime lacks a lot of the functions necessary to run C++ (eg. dynamic memory management).

Originally I had intended to look into this at some point, but there are still many (many) more important things to fix up first...
