Excluding folders from being indexed

Just a quick question - I've loaded up my X5 with some documents, as well as my music, and have created a "DOCUMENTS" folder in the root of the drive to put them all in.

The problem is the X5 scans all the folders and finds files that it thinks it can read although it's not in the MUSIC or PICTURE folders.

Is there a way to exlude a folder from being indexed? I've tried setting the folder to be 'hidden' but it doesn't make any difference.
