D2 hold by itself

I bought my d2 in january this year, and it's by far the best player I have ever had. Everything was running smooth until about a month ago when the player started putting itself on hold without me sliding the pw on/ hold button into the hold position. It is very odd, sometimes the little lock icon on the top right corner flashes rapidly like being put on and off hold very fast. When it does this, it becomes totally unresponsive, the touchscreen and the buttons have no control over it. The music or video is still playing, but I cannot pause it or stop it. I cannot even power it off, i have to reset it
It is moody, because sometimes it works just fine, until it decides to start driving me crazy. I found a way to partially solve the problem: when it starts acting funny, I put it on/off hold several times and eventually if I'm lucky, it will get out of the hold state and start taking commands( like it should do when the pw on/hold button is in the middle position).
I have tried reinstalling the firmware (2.59) several times, but it had no effect.

this phenomenon has been discussed a few times. my player once in a while has the same problem. it used to happen often but now it rarely does anymore.

whenever it comes up on my player, i just keep my finger on the switch and hold it in place a little to the left of the "neutral" position till the player responds again.
