I have been reading your postings nightly regarding the I5 for months since I want a flash player that is compact yet has a screen display that I can read at the YMCA w/o my glasses. Only remaining thing before purchase is to find out whether I can record from a CD player and have quality recordings on I5 or am I limited to downloading from internet? This is important to me to take advantage of large collection of CD's and avoid paying $$ for songs I have on CDs already.

Yes, I own a PC -- so loading CD's into PC and downloading onto I5 from there would work with good quality -- or am I misinterpreting the response?

No, that's what I meant. Using Exact Audio Copy (free) or similar cd ripping software you can rip all your cds and put them on the 5. That way the quality and file size are your choice and you won't have to download from the internet.

Thanks much. Last question before I order is whether the screen size is as readable as described. Muvo and such are way too small to be readable.

How bad is your eyesight? I find the screen size to be fine and you can customise the colour and brightness of the backlight to make it easier to read.

Thanks for the responses and information Exapno -- I can read a newspaper w/o glasses but have seen some Mp3's with screens that are so small I am amazed anyone can read them and it is hard to tell from internet photos whether I5 screen and type-size is an improvement though it appears so and postings seem to indicate it is more readable esp. with backlighting. Anyway, I am impressed by the product and those who participate in this site and appear very knowledable and taken with the Cowan products. Time for me to order the I5. Thanks again.

You should be fine, Macon. The font size isn't all that tiny.

You will get a copy of the JetShell and JetAudio softwares with your unit. I have found them great for recording stuff.

Yeah the screen is pretty readable under normal conditions. You probably won't be able to read the smaller stuff on the screen at arms length though. At about 12 inches everything is readable though. I5 has one of the bigger and better screens out there.
