Default S9: one handed operation

Hi guys, how easy is it to handle (changing tracks, choose albums) the s9 with just my right hand?

Just to clarify, 'with just my right hand' mean if I'm holding shopping or riding a bicycle....not 'anything else' haha.

Cheers!

(a bit of bg, i own a creative zen now and the thing is so compact and buttons are easy to get to i can pretty much operate it with my pinky if i have to)

i pretty much always operate my S9 with just my right hand.
and i dont even have big hands or something, so it shouldnt be a problem.

here you can see, that your thumb is free to touch the screen. i can easily touch the far ends with m thumb.

Due to the hard buttons it is no problem to change tracks, volume and hit play/pause with just one hand.

Operating the touchscreen menus with just one hand is for me no problem, but may generally depend on the size of your fingers (especially your thumb).

The good thing is that the player has a zoom function for entries when browsing - so if you have problems hitting the entries you can make them bigger

I can do it with one hand somewhat easily, especially if I've properly organized my favorites playlist. additionally, I hold it similarly to the picture above, but if I put my thumb and fingers on the side of the player, I can use my pinky to toggle the hold switch.

great player, easy to use.

honestly, im not all that pleased with the setup of the buttons being on the top and then having the powerswitch on the bottom.

First off, most people will be holding the player like they hold a cell phone simply because the player is shaped like one. But most if not all cell phones have buttons on the sides. To me, it would have made more sense to have the volume and track buttons on the sides and put the power button and headphone jack on top.

The power button is almost impossible to reach one handed especially when I want to slide it to turn the screen off.

Just my 2 cents

I think button placement on the S9 is great. If you don't think it's good, you'll just suck it up and get used to it.

It makes sense the power button be out of reach. It's something you use when you're done w/ the device and if they put it on the top or the sides, you might hit on mistake. Also, putting buttons on the side would ruin the design of the player, but more importantly, it just avoids accidental presses. No matter if you're lefty or righty, one side of the S9 is covered by your palm, so that would inconvience either lefty's/righty's

I never had problems with the power button on the side of my X5, or on the top of my D2. Never had an accidental power off.

But yea, like you said, i'll have to suck it up and get used to it.

It's good that Cowon decided to include buttons, I mean look at the iPod Touch, it doesn't have the back/forward buttons, terrible design...

i think the volume and track buttons being on the top is great as compared to them being on the sides as i usually have my device in my pocket and to be able to control the s9 from the top down is brilliant.
