just made d2+ fw upgrade from 2.02 to 3.11 on Cowon D2 8GB
no need to backup files
but I've lost all settings (maybe because 2.x to 3.x change)
I also lose database of pictures and text files (files are on D2 but I don't seen them while browsing), just need to reload them, fast reload large amount of files without db corrupt using SYSTEM directory

well the settings will be lost everytime you update your firmware even its from 3.xx to 3.xx(new)........and for the pics and text files just copy them back to your pc, restart ur player and then put them back in the respective folders in the player and restart it again

upgrade Legacy D2 (fw d2+ 3.10) to Fw D2+ 3.11: Successfull without problem

- Just copy all Fw D2+ 3.11 files (3 files) in root directory.
- Reboot D2
- Upgrade running until D2 stop
- Reboot
D2 indicates 3.11 and select contry ! Well Done !

Is it really necessary (or advised) to copy all three files available in the FW upgrade during the upgrade process?

If you look at the file dates in the 2.10 and 2.11 FWs (yes, I know this is the 3.11 thread, but the concept's the same for any of the upgrades), only the D2N_P.bin has a new date; the D2N_P_FT.bin and D2N_P_RS.bin files are identical down to their CRC. Since the _RS.bin file contains the icon theme images and the _FT.bin file contains the font information, any previously made changes to the icon theme or fonts will be lost if these two files are included in the update.

I upgraded from 2.10 to 2.11 using just the D2N_P.bin file and, as expected, it worked fine. I'm sure there will come a time when the base icon theme image and font information structures will change, but I don't see that as very likely.

Such an upgrade still causes the settings to be lost. I know the radio.ini file (in the system folder) contains the stored radio information and the logo.ilb contains the "startup" image/sequence. What do the cwsys.inf, PARAM.CFG, USER.WIF, and XDRMINF.SYS files contain? Is there any way to backup and restore the other settings around FW upgrades? Can they be read and restored with a Flash program?

Updaded my D2 using the dual boot patched D2n_P.bin. Everything is about the same... They still have not increased the annoying short time out when browsing the music library. I'll be happy with a few extra seconds. How difficult can increasing this time out be?... I'm not even going to ask for a "option" to adjust the time out.... Just a few more seconds... C'mon.

So what do they mean by BBE+ sound correction? Diff in sound again? EQ seems to differ on each D2+ firmware update..

I want to start off by suggesting to backup your sound settings (EQ numbers and sound settings), then try all the firmwares to see which one you like. EVERYONE here says "Trust your ears". lol

My experience is that D2+ FW versions X.01, X.02, and X.11 have the newer BBE+ which is less pronounced than BBE in the D2 versions. D2 X.10 is like the BBE of old.

That being said, if I use X.01, X.02, and X.11, I put BBE+ on 8. If I use X.10, I put BBE+ on 4. This is only one opinion though.

Keep in mind that if you only want to upgrade the FW, not the theme or font, only copy D2N_P.bin to the root. D2N_P_RS.bin is the theme and D2N_P_FT.bin is the font.

i've updated my D2+ with original firmware 3.11 from http://dn2.cowon.com/data/C08/D2+/D2N_P_3.11.zip . After that i tryed to update to Rockbox Firmware 3.11 from her http://rockbox.andrewbeveridge.co.uk...ed%20Firmware/ but it brocks on ca. 30% and start the cowon-system.

The Rockbox-Firmware 2.10 works fine.

What have i done wrong?
