I bought a D2 on March 1st of this year and after one day of use and letting it charge again overnight, it would not turn on in the morning. I sent it back to Cowon for repairs and just received it again two days ago. The player worked fine, again for about one day, during which I used it on the bus ride to class, but 3 hours later it would not turn on once again.
Before anyone asks, the player is/was fully charged, the computer does not recognize the device (though it does recognize that something is plugged in), and hitting reset does nothing. It's the same problem as before I had it repaired, and I know it's the same unit and not a new/different refurbished one. I'm afraid that if I send it in again, it's just going to break down in another day and I'll be out $15 for insured shipping, but it's already past the 30 days for returns. |

Doesn't sound good.
![]() Have you tried holding the on switch in the on position for around 15-20 seconds? This is what I do when I get the same symptons you mentioned when computer doesn't recognise the D2 but knows something is attached. Worth a try...

what Firmware was installed on it? sounds like to me you either have a defective unit or the "unknown can't turn on" problem. the "unknown can't turn on" issue is quite normal to some users such as myself. when you disconnect or turn off the D2 at anytime sometimes it just won't turn on. this is a random issue and i or anyone can''t figure out what causes it. the fix i have and that has worked is you slide the D2 to HOLD and press the Menu "M" Button for about 15-20secs and then try to switch the D2 on. works for me always.

I tried both of these solutions and no luck so far. I have no idea what firmware version was installed; I was afraid that the player might break again, so I left the firmware alone.
I spoke with Cowon live support and asked what they did to fix the player when I sent it in, and they said that all it needed was to be charged. When I told them how the unit was fully charged both last time it stopped working and this time, they said to send in the AC adapter/USB cable to see if something was wrong with them. I don't get how there could be a problem with either of these, since the unit did charge up when it was still working, or how that problem could result in the unit not being recognized by the computer (with several USB cables), but who am I to argue?
