Surrender

just replaced the battery on my ageing d2 4gb - £7.99
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/UK-Power-Shop

Battery for COWON D2 4GB 1800 mAh Li-ion
SKU :CS-CWD2SL
Battery Type :Li-ion
Capacity :1800mAh

Piece of cake, except I lost one of the teeny tiny fiddly screws and had to bodge in a replacement. Take my advice my brethren, when changing batteries, get a nice flat surface with a white cloth on or something and lay it all out properly so you don't lose those little screws. I can hear you now saying yeah yeah sure we know but I know that when you come to do it you'll get all impatient and end up holding the screws in your mouth and then something happens and you end up spitting them out on the floor and then they are gone forever. You do not want to be saying yeah those other screws don't quite fit but it still looks ok from a certain angle you know you don't so.

For those of you that have replaced the battery, how does it act before it dies? Does it seem to hold the charge less and less or one day it is charged 100% and then the next it will not take a charge?

nah - it just gradually gets less and less efficient - charge it fully - it used to run for a couple of weeks, then a week and a half, then you realise you have been charging it every week for a while and so on. My old battery still worked, and I kept it in case the replacement battery was pants, but it wasn't. I replaced my battery after about 5 years - I guess this is the sort of timescale you will be looking at.

Default battery drain

Henrycow,

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought. I have had my D2 almost 3 1/2 years, thinking it died on me. Well, I might have just left it on for 2 days and it completely drained the battery. I ordered a replacement because I thought it died, but still working like a charm. I wish there was a way I could make sure and charge the Cameron-sino coming in the mail. I suppose I could swap them every couple of months, but then I would risk the screws getting stripped or lost. Geez, could they make them any smaller. lol

Default replacement complete

I just got my CameronSino replacement from licketysplitauctions on ebay for $8.99 plus $4.49 S/H. I swapped it out in about 5 minutes. no soldering, charged from 2 bars to 4 in less than 2 hours. I used a plastic plate to make sure I didn't lose the screws.
