Default Skip interval ignored when paused

My primary use for my S9 (which arrived yesterday) is to listen to audio books. The most irritating thing when listening to an hour long file is to accidentally skip to the next/ previous track, completely losing your place. This is why, before buying, I checked in the manual that I could set Settings > Music > Skip Interval to X seconds rather than Track.

I've just found something that I'm hoping isn't considered a "feature" (at least I can find no way to turn it off).

If you are paused and accidentally hit one of the skip buttons, it completely ignores your settings and skips to the next track. This is particularly devastating as the skip back button is so near when you intend to unpause the current track.

Please tell me I'm missing something. I'm using firmware 2.09, don't suppose this bug only exists in this version?

I'd try the beta firmware to see if you get the same result. Won't hurt your player at all and worth a try.

I just installed it, but no luck, the problem still exists.

While I'm sure widgets are very nice, I wish they'd concentrate on bugs before adding new features.

Sometimes annoys me as when I come from the recorder after recording a lecture it's paused in the middle of a song or whatever that I want to carry on listening to but sometimes press 1 of the hardware prev/next buttons at the top while putting it in my protective sock. Another problem, although not a biggy, when paused like above, all the file info (bit rate etc) is listed as 0.

And the response from Cowon;

This is a normal function of the player. Perhaps in the future development in Korea may change this, but at this time its how it was designed.

Yeah, right, it was designed to ignore settings.

If this bothers you too, please open a support ticket while the firmware is still being actively developed.

I've found a workaround for this, just thought I'd post it here in case anyone else has skip interval not set to track and is finding the behaviour when paused irritating.

Assuming you're running the 2.10b firmware, if you install Claw's excellent Wallpaper UI v2 theme, pressing play from the main menu will start up your audio, FF & REW work as you set them while playing. If you press pause, the audio is paused and the FF & REW do nothing while in this state. This seems the most intuitive way to handle theses buttons, I wish Cowon had thought of it.

If you're reading this Claw, thank you so much. Pressing pause no longer has me afraid I'm going to be god knows where when I start listening again.

The only slight disadvantage is it's an extra button click to set a bookmark, but I can live with that.
