Default Need advice on converting VOBs

Hello,
I am new to converting DVDs to a portable device (I should be receiving my D2 tomorrow!!). I have done some experimentation and have some questions that I hope I can get some assistance with.

I like to use DVD Shrink to decode/decrypt only the main movie and soundtracks that I want. Since I am not worried about burning this to a DVD, I do not use any compression. Does that sound reasonable or do you normally use compression? I figured since I will be passing it through jetaudio (or another converter) which will compress/convert the files, there is no need for DVD Shrink to do it.

Do you normally let DVD Shrink create multiple 1Gb VOBs (DVD Shrink recommended default), or just a single massive VOB?

If you create multiple 1GB VOBs, will jetaudio's output be a single .avi of the movie or will it be multiple .avi's correlating to the number of VOBs?

Thanks in advance for the help. I am new here and appreciate this site. It definitely was helpful in my decision making process of which player to buy.

Brent

Try iLove or any of the other converters here.

I used iLove when I had a D2 and never had any problems...

I've tried ILove and it does work very well. I can drop the entire DVD folder in it and it just takes care of it.

I have done more experimenting and it does appear that if you drop multiple VOBs into jetaudio that it creates separate avi. files.

Dalmane98: What is the process you go through to convert DVDs to the S9? I have a buddy who just got an S9, and I will end up helping him. Ilove does not support S9 yet. That is another reason I was wanting to try to get the Cowon software to work.

Sorry, I have not converted any DVD's for the S9. I did not buy it for that feature.

I brought it to listen to audio books, music and to view pictures of my daughters family and my Granddaughter...

I asked elviselvis about adding the S9 to iLove, but he does not have the time...He did post the source code if anyone ever decides to add the S9.

jetAudio will create one AVI (or whatever format you choose) for
each VOB file. it wont merge them.

hey there..

I wanted to convert a dvd for my S9 today and as you said CvP, jetaudio won't merge the VOB files..

is there any good software to convert the dvd to one single avi file?
and of course the video should play without problems on my S9..
cos my old player only played the videos without problems if I converted the dvds with its software..
just to make sure lol

bye
