Default Youngvisuals S9 Theme: Glo 1.1

Hey guys,

since i was really interested in the whole UCI thing that the S9 promised I took a look this afternoon in creating my own UCI.
Since i like to name my projects, I'm going to call this GLO.
To start easy I've only made a skin for the mainmenu.
I'm planning on further adjusting the mainmenu and also take a look at the other screens (music, browser, etc,...)

I'll post future updates and stuff in this post. Also I would like to know your comments so I can make this theme as good as possible. Hope you guys like it.

Mainmenu 1.1 (Last updated 26/01)

Log
Mainmenu 1.0
- Custom icons (including dictionary and DAB tv)
(power icons need to be done yet)
- Glowing pressed state (if you press an icon)
- Placed clock central and made it bigger
- Animated bg
- Removed second theme button (since you are already in a second theme, why would you need to reload the theme you're using?)
- Removed close popup screen (when pressing power button). Just press anywhere on the screen to close the pop up.

Mainmenu 1.1
- Optimized positioning of the icons. More space fo the buttons
- Put the change theme buttons in the power popup (added button switching to mainmenu2 again)
- Removed bar that say Cowon S9 (thanks cowon but i'm sure most of the people know they own an S9 )
- Put AS inside SWF (so you don't need the 2 seperate files)

To-do:
- button to dissable animated bg
- i've animated the powerpopup window (so it really pops up) but it doesn't work yet.
- enlarge button areas
-...

Download (rapidshare)
Mainmenu 1.1
(put the file in this cowon S9 folder : System >> Flash UI)

Again ,tell me what needs to be differentor what you like/don't like. Would be much appreciated. Ciao

You mean like, totally different positioning of everything?
I like to start easy and get to know how everything is working before starting something totally different. Need to update my AS skills as well before trying anything complicated.

When you're satisfied enough with your UCI could you post it in the UCI catalogue thread: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25094

Or you could post it now and include a link back to this thread in order to discuss it...i'll leave it in your capable hands.

Yes that is indeed the utilities icon.
And total repositioning will come to order. Gotta walk before we can run, right.

I think I'm going to continue working on it first (finishing other screens) and perhaps post it then over there. But thanks for letting me know.

That's one of the nicest ones I've seen so far in terms of straight aesthetics, really like the icons and colour scheme. Nice one youngvisual, keep them coming! :-)

It seems kind of depressing and lonely... I don't know why... is it the colors? the highlights? =?
Don't get me wrong. It does look nice and well done.

In my opinion it's nice to leave it on just in case we decide to make it the first default main menu button *shrugs*

Perhaps it needs a little contrasting color in some details. To bring a little bit more life into it.

You're actually right about that one. Gonna take a look at that.
Thanks for letting me know.

In my theme there are also two theme choose buttons at the bottom and it gives the ability to have three mainmenu's on your S9. the first button is for the first theme and the second one for the second theme. if yours is mainmenu2 than the second theme will be mainmenu3 etc. That would be nice

Hmm. I really like the colour scheme and the muted nature of the overall aesthetics. The thing is, stuff like colour preference is so subjective, if you change your plans for every comment you'll end up going around in circles.

Why not make several different colour schemes to suit differing tastes? Or if it's possible (I have no idea) have a colour changing feature on just the one skin?

No but I take a look at what people have to say. That doesn't mean I'm gonna change everything. I can just quickly try something in photoshop without actually changing the whole flashfile. If i don't like it, then it wont happen .But I understand what you mean.

I like the idea of colorschemes I do think there are several ways in the latest Flash (blending mode, or just with plain AS). but just as you said, color is indeed subjective. I've chosen the color and icons at my taste.

btw; small detail, the first icons (music, video, pictures) are actually the 3 things I own. Senheisser HD415 headphones, LG television and Sony camera.

Update Mainmenu 1.1 : See first Post
- Optimized positioning of the icons. More space fo the buttons
- Put the change theme buttons in the power popup (added button switching to mainmenu2 again)
- Removed bar that say Cowon S9 (thanks cowon but i'm sure most of the people know they own an S9 )
- Put AS inside SWF (so you don't need the 2 seperate files)
