Cowon S9 UCI Development/talk

Original Post: I was starting to think that UCI on the S9 was just one of the ideas that they were planning to add, but didn't quite make it. However, on the korean website (http://board.cowon.com/zeroboard/zbo...no=160&bmenu=M) they had officially announced that it's possible and had put up some tutorial pictures. SO I'll be hoping for some nice UIs very soon

EDIT: If possible, let's compile all UCI themes in here. Thanks

How to Install
1. Download the SWF.
2. Do whatever is necessary to take it out (such as extracting it from a zipped folder).
3. Drag it to "F:\System\Flash UI"
4. If you want to put it in place of the first icon (white dots) then change the name to mainmenu1.
If you want to put it in place of the second icon (colored dots) then change the name to mainmenu2.
For browser, name it browser_total
For radio, name it radio

5. Disconnect player
6. Enjoy.

Be Aware of:
1. UIs made from Korea as their dictionary function might freeze your S9.

The Korean Cowon website has one new UCI feature.
It completely changes the looks of the "Music" screen. Enjoy:

(SORRY! I don't understand how attachments work)

Pros:
1. Big Album Art
2. Simpler Looks
3. No stupid "File Name" on the top which might be completely different from the actual title of the song
4. Controls are simplified. Meaning the Flip was taken out and instead a lot more useful stuff was added in.
5. G-Sensor doesn't work (under this music flash skin). THIS IS GOOD because the cover flow is so buggy and it's annoying how the screen changes with the slightest tilt.

(yeah that's me with a pink shirt xD)

Cons:
1. When you press "add to favorite," believe that you have pressed it even though it doesn't indicate that you took that action. I pressed "add to favorite" like 20 times and the song appeared on my Favorites list 20 times xD.
2. Doesn't resume from the part you left off when you go to video or flash. >
3. Doesn't give you the freedom to choose EQ. Rather it just goes to the next EQ. (ex: User 1 -> User 2 -> User 3)
4. No quicklist capabilities
5. Can't skip in music just by pressing on the time elapsed bar. Have to use hardware buttons (but I guess that's fine too).

EDIT: maybe make another thread like in the D2 sub forum with only flash skins and no discussion and keep it clean from discussion?

uhh later. theres only 1 theme out as of now. we should wait till more pop up, then we can start compiling. so i guess for now we'll keep this as a discussion/compiling thread till we get more.

Finally some flash stuff coming up. If a few future firmware upgrades fix the coverflow and g-sensor problems, this will be one awesome player.

So...I wonder where they get the "base" to make this stuff.. Is there an swf file for the interface already on the s9?

But yeah...this is one of the features im buying the s9 for (sue me ). it was really cool on the d2, but now we have a built in loader and access to the entire interface!

And hopefully when I get that reply back from Cowon America, they'll give me instructiuons in english lol. I doubt it tho..The d2 flash skin tutorial was the same way (only in korean)

btw don worry about the shirt. it takes a dudely dude to rock pink lol

Edit: I wonder if ANY flash skins will support the g-sensor..if so then, g-sensor games/apps should be possible too..

Yeah, they won't work for sure, but you could just extract the .tga icons etc. and reuse them in flash, so it'll be mostly copy & paste work.

Ohhhhh sweet ones! I really like the third one. There is just one little aspect I hate: The I-pood-subtitle for the music-button. What the hell? It's a COWON not an I-Pood.

What do you mean by mix and match? I think you will be able "store" them in the bar where you can change the skin-color. But thats just what I'm thinking^^

Yeah, that's true. but I was thinkin more about the d2 flash skins and whether those might work.

Edit: By mix and match I mean like mix the screens of different skins. It seems like some of the flash skins only apply to the main menu, while some others may apply to menus, now playing music screen, video screen, pictures, etc. So in effect, you could take those screens of each skin and mash em all up into like a frankenstein type of thing.

For example, I was wondering if you could maybe have the main menu screen of the "Photo album" flash skin, but also use the now playing screen of the skin that Uphaillife posted. Maybe you could do it by putting them in different folders or something...idk

Edit: speaking of the bar...I wonder why there is no third icon when using a different skin..

Edit..AGAIN lol: It seems only the main menu, radio, and music screens can be customized atm.

I tried using the UCI...

I come from a background using the CLIX2 where there is a dedicated flashUCI folder, but the s9 seems to only allow one flash uci at a time.
Imo this is a poor execution. You can't even log back to the default theme without going back and deleting the flashfile.... unless I'm totally mistaken - please correct me.

EDIT: is the little wanna be mac dock at the bottom only for changing between orginal skin and custom flash skin? or Isnt it used as a loader?
