I'm thinking to buy tomorrow the "audio-technica ATH-ANC7" earphones
and i want to ask if the cowon d2 could handle them. i know they are 260 ohms so that's why I'm asking.

Depends on the sensitivity. People have been known to use HD650s ampless on the D2, while the AKG 501s and up with something like 60 ohms really needs a dedicated amp to get decent sound from.
I don't know where you got that high of an impedance though, Amazon.com rates them at 60 ohms, and there is no word on Head-fi regarding the use of an amp. edit: anything with an impedance at 60 or below is easy to drive with the D2 excluding exceptional models such as the akgs, and as far as active noise-cancellation models go, the anc7s are quite good.

then amazon failed hard. anyways I googled "ANC7" and "AMP" and guess what? it's build for portable devices so there's no need to amplify the source unless you keep the unit off. the high impedance is present when using the phones' active noise cancellation, to where the device needs that extra space to make up for the battery-powered attenuation unit's feedback (otherwise you'd hear a lot of hiss). not the best phones if you're not using it for its intended purpose.

I'm also seeing 260ohms from other sites. But considering this is a noise-cancelling phone, used usually in loud environments (often on the go), then it's more than likely that Audio Technica released the wrong details.
