Default Ultimate:MOD Flash Interface (coverslide)

i just loved the "ultimate uci" by coconut, but i noticed many things that could had been improved, so i modded the UCI, now im posting it so you can try it and maybe enjoy it like i do.

Download / here it is on mediafire

i Streamlined the insides of the SWFs so now its works perfectly but the SWF is just 75k (1.5mb original) so its much lighter/faster. Also i improved the batch filesetter code, now you just have to run 1 program and it will automaticaly make the filelists and create scover.jpg album art from every folder.jpg or cover.jpg in every separate folder.

i also translated the Interface to english, and did a little makeover so its easier to use over differrent backgrounds, and i provide a jack up, and a jack down (flipped) version (i really ile the jack down version, so you can manipulate the side buttons easily.

HOW TO USE!

( GTStriker made a nice in-depth guide, you can download it here.)

1.- Download and unrar the files.

Download / here it is on mediafire

2.- Copy flash, system and music folders to your D2 root (not mmc card...), the folder structure is already done, so dont worry about it.

2b.- If you have music in your MMC (SD or SDHC extension card) copy "Make Fileset.bat" and "Resize120.exe" From d2:\MUSIC\ to your MMC extension music folder (d2EXT:\MUSIC\).

3.- Go to d2:\SYSTEM\ folder, inside choose ultimatemod.swf (common, audio jack up version) or ultimatemod_flip.swf (audio jack down version. i like this one better...), and rename that one to music.swf

4.- Make sure there´s a folder.jpg or cover.jpg file on each album folder that you want to display its album art (if not check (9)). Also check if folders or filenames contains any " ! " or " & " characters, you must delete those characters for the script to correctly read those folders/files.

5.- In d2:\MUSIC\, run "Make Fileset.bat", this will create every listfile and albumart that the UCI needs (DONT EVER RENAME OR DELETE Resize120.exe ...unless you dont want the UCI to work...)

5b.- If you have music in your MMC (SD or SDHC extension card) run "Make Fileset.bat" there too.

6.- you can go to d2:\FLASH\coconut\ultimate\background and put any background you want there, just overwrite bg-v.jpg (vertical bg) and/or bg-h (horizontal bg), the image format its 320x240px

7.- Turn on your d2 and try your new UCI. (starts with vertical UI, to switch to horizontal UI, switch HOLD back and forth quickly)
THE HORIZONTAL PLAYER IT´S NOT FULLY FINISHED!, Neither the "Options" menu.

REMEMBER everytime you copy more music to your D2, you have to run "Make Fileset.bat" in order for the UCI to recognize those new songs

(8) If you use lyrics, just put the .LRC files on a folder named "Lyric" inside the album folder. each LRC file should be named after their track# (01.lrc, 02.lrc, 03.lrc...)

(9) To display the album art, the uci needs to generate a scover.jpg (120x120px) file from either folder.jpg or cover.jpg placed in its corresponding album folder.

A Common (and very good) Folder structure for sorting albums is \MUSIC\ "Artist" \ "Year" - "Album" \ (tracks and album art goes in this folder)

There are many programs that sorts and copy music automatically to your D2 that way (mediamonkey its a very good one, check This Thread) or you can extract the albumart from the mp3s and copy it to their folder as a jpg image with MP3tag (freeware)

Download / here it is on mediafire

GTStriker made a nice in-depth guide, you can download it here.

That´s it, ENJOY! and give me feedback.

1st I tried running the make fileset.bat without an image on my D2 music folder. didn't work.

I added a cover.jpg from some random album in there.

did the same thing.

the strange thing is that in the dirs.txt file it creates, there's a folder on a Z: drive I don't have! ... ?

i'm going to try something different for the album art and folders in my music directory (the music directory does not contain subfolders and album art at the moment, just music files)

first comment:
support for .png or .bmp or .gif files for cover art would be nice. I have lots of them!

2nd comment: the option (slide down) does not work ( ? ), what's it supposed to do?

3: great flash skin with accurate progress bar!

now i'm going to try adding some folders with covers on the internal memory

external memory to be tested later, or by others.

by the way:

why extract album art from mp3's to resize them to 120×120 if the UCI does display them! while playing some files, I bumped on a file on my external memory with album art in the mp3 and it displayed the album art!

I must say it looks very nice, but I've got next to 0 tracks with album art, so it's not worth it I'm afraid.

and now i'm going to get some sleep. it's 23:00 here so i'll get back here tomorrow, or some other day soon enough.

I still don't get what the option button does. and in horizontal mode I don't know how to play an album when I slide to it: I can't click on it or whatever, the only thing I can click on is the music player button in the lower right corner. but the music is still playing and I don't know how to browse to a different song on an album of my choice.

1st conclusion: great flash skin, but a small tutorial would be nice to use all of its functions!

the UCI searchs for scover.jpg in each album folder... normaly a corect folder structure would be \MUSIC\ARTIST\YEAR - ALBUM\Track# - TITLE

the uci needs scover.jpg so it can display albumart on the browser slider, also not all albumart are corectly tagged so its best to have a scover.jpg.. and also its much faster to have the d2 read a little jpg file than a embeded jpg on a mp3 tag.. and most importantly, if you use OGG/FLAC files, its the only way to have albumart, since those formats dont support albumart tags natively.

the option button its not ready jet, i dont have a idea what its suposed to do since coconut havent finished it jet.

again, coconut havent fully finished this UCI, so its not 100% ready =).

PS: you can switch back to vertical UI the same way you did to switch to horizontal.

All my music is on the external. Should this still work or are there other steps I could follow?

Hmm can't stop generic volume. SHould I just unplug it or it might brick?

EDIT. Well I unplugged it and nothign wrong happened. Only thing is that it did not work :/

EDIT 2: Well now I tested it. Works good but it slows down the resuming time and changing to another song. How should I do to try it in my SDHC I can see whilst playing other covers of my albums located there, but I can't see them at the music browser

Thnks though. Looks awesome
