Default No 720p playback or ID3 database?

I've been looking forward to the O2 being released and I'm very close to buy it, but heard about some issues so maybe one of you can proof them wrong ...
I heard that the O2 wouldn't sort files by ID3 tag but just by name? is this true?
And I heard about the O2 actually not playing 720p video.. does anyone know about that?

Sorry for going off-topic a little bit, but there's no suitable topic around here yet..

greetings

Having said that the D2 didn't support ID3 sorting from the off...it took 3-4 FW updates before that happened....take from that what you will... I don't think the O2 will get a database system as it seems to be based more off the A3 than the D2 (the A3 also does not have a database system)

Hm... can't say I like to hear that... (I'm really not the guy with a sorted music lib so tagged browsing is kind of a necessary utility for me...)
But however it at least does show the tags while playing (and skipping?) does it?

Yeah, it'll read tags...

Could you not use a Auto organising programme like MM to sort your music?

the O2 (like the A3) reads and sorts Tracks by File Name. try editing the File Names my adding 01, 01, 03, Etc. to the File Names. do not add the 0 to the Tracks that are numbered 11, 12, 13, Etc.

as Dominc said, it'll read tags but it will not sort them out like the D2 does. it'll just read the Album Art, Date, Track#, Etc.

Hm it's a pity... I mean this can't be that difficult to realize (or is it?) so why didn't Cowon include this feat to this almost perfect player?

Well I don't have any experience with auto organizing programs... maybe this could lead me out of my trouble 'cause I can't think of not having this thing

well, since it's a PMP i would assume COWON went with a Standard File System. think of the File System as Windows. the Files are read just the same but just with the Extensions unhidden by default. simple as that really. Also, Windows doesn't sort out Music or any file by tags. it sorts by File Names as the A3 and O2 does.

Of course it's easier to sort files just by name than by tag. But still I find it hard to believe that it is too difficult to give this feat to the O2 since even pretty old players sort files by tag..
Actually, what is the relation between the fact that the O2 is a PMP and the fact that it doesn't sort files by tag? Do PMP's commonly sort their files just by name?

well, video files tend to not have or use Tags in the way Music Files do. i think they had to go with one or the other but for me browsing by File Name is just fine.

Could be a reason.... but still they managed this on the D2 by having both, a usual file browser and a database based on tags, so I can't see why not doing this on the O2..

Adds a lot of complexity. Cowon PMPs allow you to manipulate files (add/copy/delete) using the interface itself.... have to handle the db updates or risk corruption. Just guessing... more code, less memory will be available. Again, I'm just thinking out loud.

Not listed under supported formats so we have no idea. Ask those with O2 to test try?
