Default improved codec support?+other Qs

I just recently stumbled upon this. I was previously almost about to buy the Cowon A3, but i found out that i would still have to do converting and i might as well get the Archos 605. Anyway, i sold the archos so here goes; i got a few questions:

1-I was wondering, will the Cowon 02 have improved codec support over the Cowon A3? I mean the Cowon A3 was advertised to play h264 720p, but it cant. Will Cowon 02 be able to play this? (all i want to do is watch anime without converting)

2- Why isn't there more hype about the Cowon 02? Only a few threads here and seemingly no interest ><

3- Isn't Cowon O2 too cheap? Starting price of 219 is crazy (please dont quote the 4gb 605, it doesn't come with any codecs)

: Cowon O2 supposely shares the same CPU as Cowon A3 so it will not play h264 720p. Most computers choke on it anyway. The most powerful portable video player now is Archos 5 but the codec support though near to Cowon's but it comes at a price and lots of firmware headaches.

Basically, there's nothing much 'new' about it. It's somewhere a cross between A3 and D2 leaning more heavily towards A3. The resolution is 480x272, it uses flash memory, codec support are similar to A3. Battery life slightly improved and it's touch screen. I don't think we are that eager for such a ... uninspiring product.

That's 8 GB of flash memory mind you. And hey, why complain?

Meh it has a 480x272 resolution o.O - let down. Im guessing videos still look really good on it though. Since it only has to display videos at 480x272 wont that be easier on the Cowon O2, allowing it to bigger/higher kbps files than the Cowon A3??

You said that its not really an inspiring product - Well for someone whos on the bench for a PMP, it seems to be the most attractive PMP. I just want something to watch most of my anime without converting; Cowon A3 can probably do that. But i didn't end up buying it because it was too bulky (280grams vs archos's 150/190/250 i mean wtf), and because it has poor navigation, (heard some bad stuff about that toggle thingy).

Now the Cowon O2 comes out with flash, lighter(still much more heavier than archos 605, 150grams vs 202 grams), smaller because of no buttons, touchscreen and SDHC - Everything i ever wanted from a PMP - Not to mention its a great price as well. Meh , end of ramble. My point for saying all that was that for some people like me, Cowon O2 is perfect. Of course to people who already have Cowon A3, it may not be very attractive.

PS: Can the Cowon A3 play h264 700x400 encoded at 24 FPS(mkv)??

PPS: On the Cowon O2's page: http://www.cowonglobal.com/product_w...uct_page_2.php
I cant find anywhere where it says it supports MKV - NOOOOOOOOOOOO???

<= 480x272 videos on psp looks sucky on closeup. Not sure about cowon o2.

<=I got used to it. I got used to the toogle as well.

<= And its low memory size. If you are an anime fan like me, the more hard disk space the better.

H.264 BP. There's a thread on it somewhere, go look for it.

No idea about the mkv...
