Unfortunetly i bought my digicam before there was USB-OnTheGo and so it doesn't support it. Now i'm looking for a cardreader which supports USB-OTG or an USB-USB-bridge, which supports USB-OTG on one side and USB-massstorage on the other.

Does anyone know, if there are such devices? ...and if, where can i get one of those?

Bye nightsblood

Pretty much anything supports USB OTG. Unfortunately due to a peculiar implementation of USB OTG in X5 it doesn't work with many devices that are otherwise OTG compatible. For compatibility list see the sticky on this board - it lists some compatible card readers.

Hi there,

I'm a bit confused about all this OTG stuff. Seems to me to be very version 1.0 at the moment.

I've got a Canon Ixus 400. I've seen from several reliable sources that it ain't supported. So be it, but I have a coupla questions that you tech-ninjas might be able to answer:

Is it likely that a firmware upgrade to the X5 would solve this incompatibility issue, or is my camera the non-compliant bit? If this is the case, it'll never work, and I can stop worrying about it.

In which case...

Could I buy any old USB SD card reader, put the SD card from the Ixus into it, plug it into the X5, and drop images onto the X5?

I know I've kind of repeated nightsblood's question, but I need a clearer answer, sorry.

i've tried 3 card readers so far, 2 cheapo no brand types, and 1 transcend card reader. only the transcend worked. so yes, you can do that thing with the sd card to read ur ixus photos. but not every reader works. check the list for some ideas.

Cheers Pai. Simple, straight answer. Good on you.

Actually, as this seems so hit or miss, could I ask you for the exact model / part number of the Transcend SD reader theat you're using. Then I can be sure of geting one that works.

http://ec.transcendusa.com/product/I...emid=TS0MFLRD7

or try the sandisk imagemate 12-in-1

(i *am* facing some issues, but it seems more and more likely to be my x5 that's the problem. see thread titled "disappointing usb-otg" if you wanna hear me whine)
