Default Several Problems

Hello,
I am having several problems with my IAudio X5. We had power outage so I attempted to charge my player via a USB cabel in my car. I plugge din a car adapter with USB end, and hooked the cable up to my player. It came up with a white screen when I plugged it in. I have tried resetting it but it still does the same thing. Whenever I try to reset itit does different things depeing on the situaion. If I plug it in it goes sometime sit just goes black while tohers the Iaudio screen comes up but nothing happens. I also tried hooking it up to my computer butsame thing. It also does not show up on my computer, although my computer detects it, it says failure to load device.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Justin

If you had a power outage while the X5 was plugged in, it's possible the X5 took damage.

In any case, if you can't get the computer to recognize the X5 your best bet is to call Cowon and look into repairs, but other people may have other ideas.

Hello,
It was plugged in when the power went out but was working fine. Then the battery died and I attempted to recharge it through my car w/ a USB cable and this started happening.

The only thing I am aware of that may help is to connect the charger to the X5, hold in the reset button for a second or so and leave it connected to the AC adapter for 24 hours. I believe this is a battery reset procedure that sometimes works.

Have you tried a different subpack? Maybe you got lucky and only the subpack is damaged? If that doesn't work, I would try a new battery. It has a little circuit board attached to it so maybe THAT got damaged. Good luck.

Edit. Actually, I would try whichever one is cheaper first.

Justin,

If your player is still under warranty, don't do anythng to it; let Cowon fix it....and only mention the symptoms to them, not the cause.

Could we try not to encourage deception here? Thanks.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with not _volunteering_ the cause...but if they ask I hope you'd have the integrity to tell them.

Thanks for all the help!
How do I know if its still under warrenty?
I bought it used off ebay in march. The sller did however include EVERYTHING it came with, including a print out of the receipt from where she ordered it.

If you are in the U.S., look at the receipt and count 365 days forward. That will give you the end of the warranty period.

I just checked the receipt and it wa sorignaly purchased April 2006, so I'd say its expired haha.

So, should I try replacing thebattery myself (I have another I've been needing to put in anyway) and if that doesn't work send it to cowon?

If I put a new one in and it doesnt fix the problem, will cowon refuse to repair it?

I can't imagine Cowon refusing to do repairs, though it's possible. Any self-attempted repairs may affect the actual cost of the repairs though.
