Default Hi, All! New Q5W Owner

Hello, Everyone!
After lots of research and lots of reading on the iAudiophile forums, I finally decided to buy a Q5W 80GB. It just arrived last week, and I've been spending every spare minute trying to learn what it can do. What an amazing device -- so small, yet so capable! Who needs a laptop anymore? To me, the Q5W seems like a UMPC (with WAY better sound and video!)

I joined iAudiophile because everyone seems so knowledgeable and so nice and patient about answering Noob questions. I'm hoping for answers to some questions I have now that I've played with the Q5W for a few days -- and maybe when I get more experienced, I can help answer questions, too.

Ever,
Tryin2Learn

Thanks, FURR! Looking forward to being part of the community & hoping to hear back from some experienced users to make the Q5W a laptop replacement.

hello again, well... i wouldn't consider the Q5 a notebook replacement. Q5 is mainly a PMP but with a little extra features added. for a notebook replacement (well, as i like to say portable notebook replacement) would be a HP Mininote, ASUS Surf Series, PC Series, and the new 1000/1000H Models.

Of course you're right, it's not really meant to be a laptop replacement but the others you mentioned are all too big in size & too small in GB for me -- plus they're not meant to be high quality PMPs & that's what I was really looking for. Q5W shines there!

Plus, I like having so much storage in such a compact design & if I can find a compatible keyboard & some decent productivity software beyond WordPad (is there a MIPS-flavored OpenOffice?), then work & play converge in one device... Cool!
