I'm not at home so I can't check but the database file should be somewhere... Try in your documents and settings directories. I'm running Vista at home, will have a look later.

Right, the AppData folder is hidden so you need to change the folder options to reveal it

Should be able to find it in there.

(sorry for double post)

I run XP so forme should it be like this:
Quote:
Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB
Ive select show hidden files and folders and now at least found the appData folder, but inside that, theres no mediamonkey folder...

EDIT: Fixed it, got help from a guy at the MM forum, the problem was some kind of misstake by MM, it said "C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB" but it should be "C:\Documents and Settings\\(your user account]\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB"

Great guide but I can't get the album art to copy across to my D2 even though I have ticked the "Copy Album Art to Track Tags". Appreciate you help.

What file format are you using? Maybe untick the "Sync all Album Art to Track folders" box or delete the cover.jpg and see if it shows up then.

Or you could keep the "Copy Album Art to Track Tags" unticked and just use the cover.jpg method instead. Would appreciate the feedback since I don't know whether they conflict or not (I'll update the guide once I know)

EDIT: Seems a lot of people are having album art problems at the moment, both here and Head-fi...

Ironically I had an album art issue a few days back. Somehow I had a FLAC file in Media Monkey that I had recently ripped that seems to have caused my player to pretty much seize up when I tried to load up the SD card after synching. After some troubleshooting, narrowed it down to that most recent synch job and found that when looking at the file in Media Monkey it showed two "cover art" entries. Deleted both and reset it to "cover.jpg", removed the old file from my SD card, and re-synched. That seems to have fixed it.

I'll check at home if I have the "Copy Album Art" ticked or not. Not sure if that's helpful or related.

Confused Freeware or Pro version?

I've read through the posts, and I risk having missed the post by asking this question.

I've read the "Guide to D2 music management with Mediamonkey 3.0; does this refer to the "freeware" version or the "Pro" version?

I'm not opposed to purchase, and I want the utility of MM; but I'm trying to choose from among WMP 10, MM 3.0, JetAudio (don't care for it), and other for my D2 16gb for music management.

Is it just preference?

I'm a neophyte in this world of PMPs, and I don't have great facility in ripping, managing, playlisting.

Thanks for reading and responding.

This is a guide on the free version of the software as I have no spare cash to part with!

The Gold (paid) version does have a lot of extra nice features but none of which are covered in this guide such as converting music on the fly when transferring music (FLAC to ogg for instance), folder monitoring and a faster CD ripping speed amongst other things.

EDIT: If you do choose this to manage your collection, I'd recommend CDex for ripping CD's.

Thumb Up Thanks for MediaMonkey Reply

I very much appreciate the reply; it was most helpful. And thanks for the tip on CD ripping.

Have a small problem with MM. When I transfer the PL all the music ends up in the root folder of the D2, not in the Music folder. I have followed the guide and the tacks are to be put in this order '\Music\<Albumartist>\<Album>\<Spor#:2>-<Tittel>'.
Also when I transfer a PL with WMP 11, it works just fine, but I'd rather use MediaMonkey.

How strange.

Can I ask how exactly do you transfer the tracks? Might seem like a stupid question but I have to ask!

I'll have to upload some screenshots at some point soon as to avoid confusion!

I don't know if someone has had the same problem before with MM, but when I manually organize my tags (spending some hours doing so) and I sync it with my DMP my library is good and you can play all songs in it.. But after I shut down my PC, and when i turn it on, some files are not playable.

Then when I check my music folder (and i don't have auto scan the folder for new music) I see that new folders are created with music moved there, and the album art (i had looked for and added to the tags) is the original folder. those new folders are only created with the album name, not some other information I had on them (like (320K)) What is the solution for that?

ps. I don't know if this is the write place to ask this (as I am new to the forums and don't know whether I should start a new post or just use this one as it concerns MM) Sorry if i have done wrong

When I connect the D2, I select use with MM. Then I right-click on a PL and select transfer to D2.
Anyway, installed MM on my pc at work, and somehow it works perfectly there, strange
I have tried to uninstall and installed MM several times, but no luck. I think there may be something left in the registry that **cks it up, but have also tried to clean it up with CCleaner, no luck there either
