Default "New music" in library

Anyone know how the "New music" tab in the music library works? I would think the meaning of it is to organize by when you added the files to the memory, but nothing shows up here. All the other tabs work fine. Checked that the timer settings were OK. Maybe it's my use of MSC-mode?

D2 DAB 8 Gb + 16 Gb SDHC, 2605 mp3s, firmware 4.54

Same for me, varies between no files and old files.. so what's the point? Do you also use MSC-mode when transferring files?
