I'm sure this is has been asked in some other way, at some other time, but a quick search for this topic came up short for me.
I have a great little product called a Neuros OSD (www.neurostechnology.com). With this product, you can record video from any source in mp4 format, onto any external storage you can imagine. It allows you to adjust all the bitrates and aspect ratios and whatnot. It has direct settings to record perfectly for Smartphones, iPods, and PSP. You can also customize the settings to always record into the specs that you want to record onto. For example. I stuck a microSD card into it, set it to Smartphone setting, hit record, and recorded a show. I then took the card out, put it into my wife's blackberry, and BAM...it played perfectly with no conversions needed. Now here is my question... If i can set it to record into the exact settings needed to play video on my D2, will i logically be able to pull the SD card out and play right off the bat? Or will i still need to convert it using Cowon's software no matter what? If this is possible, what are the exact settings i should set? If not, oh well...i still love me some hot D2 action. You can't have it all. |

Yes it should, just think of what all those custom (some open source) converters do, they don't slap on a cowon signature or anything.

the ben, I'd be keen to know how this works out for you - looks like a handy device for someone like me who struggles with conversion software due to operating off an antiquated iBook (running OS 9.2).
Unfortunately, with my lack of experience, I'm not 100% sure what those settings need to be but the manual mentions AVI: MPEG4 ~2Mbps, 320x240, 30fps, MP3 audio. Hope that helps. |

Good luck in finding the right setting....I don't think it will be that easy...especially when it comes to audio video sync issues.
Let us know your progress.. |

Simple answer: YES YOU NEED TO CONVERT ( i have tried raw AVI and it won't automatically downsize)
