Default Purchasing a USA D2 for UK use

Hi guys,
i'm new to all this so sorry if this is a silly question. Just wanted to ask for some advice. I live in the UK and am really keen on the D2 however on amazon it is £200 for the 8gb with DAB. However, on ebay i have seen a brand new 8gb d2 (i assume its not DAB) including postage over here it is only £130 (with todays exchange rate). If i ordered it, A: would it be legal to do this? B: would the player work ok in the UK and C: is the DAB feature worth the extra money?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys, keep up the good work.
Matt

PS is it worth waiting for the D3?

Yup it's legal, and it should be ok to use over in the UK because you can configure the D2 for the UK through the settings - be careful when ordering from America though as there are extra charges if you want to pick up the item in the UK - I ordered an Axiom 25 from eBay at the equivalent of £120 and had to pay another £40 when it arrived.

DAB is worth it if you live in an area with good reception (I don't ) so check that out first.

A: nope not illegal > you may incur customs duties, but you also may not.. it's luck of the draw.

B: It'll work grand, you'll just need to have a US-UK plug adapter which you can pick up all over the place for about £2

C: Do you use DAB radio? I don't use it, but I also don't listen to radio so DAB would offer me no advantage.

PS: I don't think it is, we have no confirmation that it is even being developed...if you are considering waiting you might also want to look at Sony's new player or, of lesser emphasis, iriver's new stuff (however iriver are quite terrible at get products released)

Default Purchasing US D2 for UK use

Hi guys,
cheers for the advice! May well go ahead with it. Sounds good. Thanks for the advicee about the d3 as well; didn't want to get caught out by buying a d2 an then d3 coming out. As a matter of fact, i have been waiting for the iriver w10 to be released for the past 18months now, and have finally given up. D2 seems very nice, cant wait to get one.
Thanks again

Default I bought a US model for the UK

I bought a D2 about a year ago, a relative imported it for me having ordered it off amazon (US). As it was imported direct, I managed to dodge extra tax...[toungue]

All is fine with it, except that my charger has a US 2 pin plug. The adapter does have removable and therefore I presume replaceable pins, the sort where you can uncouple the pins and replace them. Goodness knows where you'd get the UK equivalent from though. Anyone have a UK spare they can send me?!

I have used my shaver point to charge it with the 2 pin fine, and i could get a 2 pin travel adapter.

Of course at that time, there were no DAB models so I can't offer advice there.

Well, one reason, even Amazon are selling them at the dollar equivalent of £94 GBP at the moment (in stock too). Maybe shopping around could get one for less.
