Would any of you flash programmers be able to implement something like this (see link) as a D2 flash application???
http://www.flashvalley.com/fv_tutori...hared_objects/ I know thinkquick is working on a very nice calendar for the flash player, and I think an address-book/contacts application would complement it very nicely. I'm thinking of course of the ability to call up the notepad keyboard to make and save entries. I know that I would use it and I hope someone will look into it. Thanks. (and before anyone suggests that I try it myself, I just don't have the computer knowledge or ability) |

Something like this could be done, however not using Shared Objects. They are a method used when running flash in an internet browser (afaik). The only save method that seems to work on the D2 is SetPersistentData.
If I get really bored one day, I might give this a go, but I have a fairly long list of games I want to try to write before then. Starting with Line Rider, of course.

Thanks for looking at this thinkquick. I wasn't so much interested in the shared-objects aspect, as the basic appearance of the Address-book for the D2.

I'm another who would love a flash address/phone book. I've been using the organizer and finding it very helpful. D2 is such a versatile piece of hardware!

I'm a bit cynical about these type of apps, as I think they are better suited to your phone. I don't carry around my D2, though, and I'm guessing a lot of people do carry them around.

Yup. During the workday I don't have access to a cell phone, only the phone at work. I don't have a PDA and my laptop is a bit clunky to stick in my pocket. :-)
Right now I'm just creating a file in the notebook app. It works. |
