Default Do you think installing a wifi chip is possible?

i was just thinking the other day.....if it was possible to solder a wifi chip inside the D2? sounds like a good idea. and somehow put up like a keyboard and all the etc need and bam......that is truly a ipod touch killer. do you think this is technically possible? i was just curious b/c how D2's in Korea has DMB so why not wifi here?

wifi antenna...

wifi circuitry...

chaning all the internal circuitry...

custom firmware...

those are just the basic things, and looking at those... it seems kinda impossible. But then again, Frankenstein seemed impossible too

theres a SD wifi card with everything inside, but theres several problems
first one is that if the slot is SDIO,
2nd issue is implementing the driver,

Or just throw away $400 for internet access. You know, because we're all rich like that.

I imagine the possibilites as I read about the DMB attachment for the earlier models, but it's really limited to firmware and how you'll implement the hardware. I don't know, if you're savvy, see if you can get the archos 605's chip and maybe you'll get results, albeit spending an incredible risk (even if you know what you're doing). It's a nice idea, but I wouldn't count on it.

So I looked at those wikis, and I guess DMB is transferring digital data over the air? I saw a video on YouTube where someone was seemingly watching a tv-like stream on their D2? Is this not available in the US?

^sad fact, considering how big television is. If the iPod had it, I'm pretty darn sure that it'd start catching on, considering how little devices made in the U.S. even mention it.

Well, seeing as to how I live in the US, even if I did get te D2TV I guess I wouldn't have any signals to pick up! :-D I was somewhat interested in this because I'll be going over to france for a semester next year, but i don't feel like importing anything, or paying anything extra. I think an 8gb D2 will be plenty for me. Plus, if this DMB stuff does pick up in the US, I don't doubt that the D2s successor will incorporate it.

i'm pretty sure thats impossible, even with a SDIO wifi card - you need a completely new custom firmware, and i doubt that Cowon is even thinking about something like this.
and this was the optimistic variant

the pessimistic one involves D2's hardware incapacity to deal with something like this

Custom firmware's in the making, called Rockbox....haha. I don't even know if THEY could do it, but it'd be a ridiculous add on imo.
