Can you listen to music while using flash programs?

Short question here.. it's probably been answered already but it's too hard to find the answer by looking through the numerous old threads, and I kind of need a quick response.

Can you listen to music while using flash programs? Or does it stop in order to use flash? I remember reading something about how you couldn't have music while playing flash games, but I was wondering if that was just because flash games used their own music, or if it was the case with all flash programs.
